Hi all, going back to Le Mans for the first time in 27 years this year and am like a small child waiting for Christmas.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible / permissable to watch the race on the straigt between Mulsanne corner and Indianapolis from the inside of the circuit? I know the Mulsanne straight(!!) is out of bounds to all but the SAS minded of us but wasn't aware of any restrictions around this part.

I'm staying on the Travel Destinations site at the Porsche Curves so if anyone else is going to be there - Hi.

You need a special pass to get beyond Beausejour/the road up to Houx (Chemin aux Boeufs) and that's for officials, the small number of people who live inside that area and their guests. Like all roads leading near the inside of the circuit these are guarded and patrolled.

Of course you can jump on the free bus to Mulsanne, at which point there's quite a long track-side viewing area as you walk from the car park to the actual viewing area at the corner.

Several years ago Mulsanne to Indianapolis was out of bounds, but that did not stop PH-er MikeN & I going off piste. Exciting to watch close to the track, but on balance not recommended - you will be on overgrown private property, in addition the woodland is patrolled by gendarmes who appear out of nowhere & need a bloody good reason for you being there (particularly if they catch you twice within 20 minutes...). If do go ahead, think about what you are wearing - shorts mean your legs will be shredded, bright T shirts & fluorescent jackets make you visible to security.
