We normally go Thursday but are forced to go Friday morning this year, interested to see if that's a mistake traffic/police wise!

Son and I have been going since 1996 always on Friday morning, via Eurotunnel. Obviously, there's fewer cars going to Le Mans on the Friday. However, the police are still much in evidence so exceed 130km at your peril!

I've also been twice solo overnight on the Friday and the roads are empty. I usually get the Eurotunnel at about 10:30 pm and arrive at Parking Blanche at about 4:00 and have a good kip in the car. The roads are empty and each toll seemes to have a gathering of gendarmes having a chat. I got breatherlysed once at a toll!. Rouen and its empty streets in the early hours is quite weird!

I did it that way a couple of years ago (2009 I think). Think it was the 19:00 shuttle.

Was absolutely brilliant to be honest - we stayed at the Ibis in Rouen - get to the railway sidings and it's off to the right somewhere. Then left there I think at about 06:30 and were at the Rotonde picking up our tickets/grandstand etc by about 08:00.

Pretty sure we did the first leg in about an hour and a half, and the second in a touch over that. Cruise control at 85, and literally didn't see one bit of traffic to slow down from there either leg.

Hi,

3 of us getting the 19:20 tunnel on the Friday (unless we get there a bit earlier, hopefully) - first time for me so can't wait!

Roads should be quiet at that time as well :-)

One of our group can only make it down post-work Friday and has to be back for work on Monday so is just jumping on the Eurostar/SNCF - quicker than driving and a chance to arrive drunk-enough to mingle with everyone on the tram back from the driver's parade!

I'm on the 10:50am Chunnel on Friday morning. Usually go down Friday but usually an earlier crossing. Traffic always been spot on with the exception of Rouen.

Chance? I'm pretty sure that I'll be absorbing an unhealthy quantity of Pimms.

Anyone got a spare seat for the Friday trip? One of our lot needs a lift, any offers considered! smile

Bump

My pal is still looking for a seat on Friday if anyone has one. He lives in London if it helps...

We'll be on the 22:20 Chunnel. We'd like to go on Thursday night but I have an exam on the Friday.
