Sounds like Houx. LM does unfortunately attract some morons and chavs. It used to a fun atmosphere outside parking Bleu but Houx has a reputation for going too far. That's why I always stay in MB. Shame really.

The reporter sounds like a bit of a knob though,

The people hanging around around the Beasejour and Karting areas seem to be locals and Danes who came on coaches so have no transport to get away from the circuit, so they stay around drinking all day.

Good for Autocar for reporting the issue.

Thought Mad Friday was a little quiet outside Blue Sud and Nord compared to previous years. We walked through there around 1pm and did not stay long.

Oi, I heard that tongue outbiggrin

It was disappointing to see people behaving like that but ultimately it didn't ruin a fantastic weekend. Planning on heading back next year already.

Hope everyone else who made the trip had a great time.

To be honest the reporter has it exactly right. I am not sure where he had his incident but we were camping on Beausejour and had been up in to Le Mans on Friday evening, didnt go to the Parade as find it drags on too long, you see sod all etc, but had a nice meal at a restaurant.

Returned to the circuit on the tram with raucous well watered fans singing various songs like Auld Lang etc (remarkably badly) but nothing wrong with that.

Got off the tram at the terminus and went to wait for the courtesy bus down to Beausejour. On the tram side of the roundabout and the circuit entrance were loads of CRS police. Some Dutchman decided to try and get the back out on his van (possibly a Mercedes Vito) went round twice and was being ignored by the CRS until he nearly hit a couple of pedestrians who crossed the roundabout in front of him. Then the CRS stopped him, hauled him out the van and had him up against there van arms and legs spread. Was there for about 5/10 minutes but we left on the courtesy bus before there was any conclusion. I guess they were waiting for a breathlyser before deciding what to do with him. Didnt really feel there was anything wrong with his antics, wasnt his fault someone stepped out in front of him, although not doing the antics in front of the CRS would have been sensible!

Then on the Courtesy bus heading down to Beausejour past Houx we got trapped in what can only we described as a baying mob of alleged fans, and they were throwing water bombs around having stood in front of the bus so it couldnt move. Heard them shout in English "That window is open" so now they were english speaking. One water bomb came in through the window before it was shut and once the bus got through and down to the Technoparc roundabout it stopped was withdrawn from service because the wing mirror was broken.

I dont know if it lead to the withdrawal of other services on the Courtesy bus and other days the minitrain was also running through there, I wouldn't have wanted the experience on that.

When we walked down to Beausejour roundabout there was a huge crowd who appeared to be encouraging drivers to do burn ups round the roundabout and rev engines and I have no objection to that either.

However the incident at Houx went beyond japes. There is no need to physically damage vehicles or chuck water bombs around. Encouraging drivers to rev engines and do burn ups is a different thing, although again drivers who decide not to participate should be respected rather than hassled as many wont due to the fear of hitting the crowd.

I think the reporter makes a very valid point, and no doubt had he done a burn up, and had those standing there been hit if it went wrong he'd be the one currently assisting the police with their inquiries rather than reporting on a shameful incident which no real fan of Le Mans should support.
