Reports I've seen are that Allan passed away in the medical centre. At the time Eurosport didn't want to presume anything and just reported the details available. Safety car period for just over an hour while driver, car and Armco were seen to.

Terrible news. Looks like something broke on the car. I was watching from the Porsche Curves when it happened. The race was not stopped but the safety car was out for about an hour. We had no idea how serious it was at the time. The death was announced on Radio Le Mans about 18:30 local time.

The race wasnt stopped at allDreadful!
It ran under sfaety cars for nearly an hour whilst initially they extricated Simonsen and remove dthe car, then repaired the barrier
