Gentlemen Drivers

Having watched several, quite frankly dangerous episodes of driving and accidents caused by some of the gentlemen drivers at Le Mans, I have a question.

Is it time to vet the driving standards of these drivers, should they be banned or it all part of Le Mans?

I believe they have to reach a certain standard/level in order to gain the International B license.

I doubt Le Mans could continue without them.

Paying drivers make up a large part of the field.

National a
National b
International c

So not exactly turn up with your cheque book

The mix of cars and drivers is part of the challenge of endurance racing.

Tbh most of the poor driving through traffic ive seen over the years has been the pro drivers in factory cars taking too manu chances and making too many assumptions

Indeed. What else do you want/expect?

The drivers don't need to be 'competitive' 'fast' or 'win'. They just need to prove themselves to be safe.

well not quite you need to be able to keep a race car on track and finish races.

I take it you have a super licence ?


everyone makes the odd mistake, and you have no idea what may be going on in the cockpit, or what mechanical issue a car may be having..
