What a race!!!

Incredible race, I managed to watch all but 4 hours. It's the first I have watched at home.
Right result overall, would've been nice for Toyota but given yesterday's circumstances TK winning is the right result, shame the Turner Vantage couldn't to it though. That would've been a fairy tail ending.

What a race - why? It was a foregone conclusion (as much as LM can be)before I went to bed last night - the dominance of Audi has become extremely boring and is one of the main reasons why I have stopped going -after 25 years.Right result overall, would've been nice for Toyota but given yesterday's circumstances TK winning is the right result, shame the Turner Vantage couldn't to it though. OK, the junior classes were pretty close, but most peeps don't really go to watch them, do they? Its LMP1 that counts. lets hope Porsche can bring a proper challenge next year.

In this case it's the type of dominance that's all about limiting the opposition by not allowing an open engine choice.IE capacity limits and restrictors etc etc.All to engineer the result which the publicity machine wants in that diesels or any other percieved eco message must be shown to artificially win out.
The same applies in regard to the GT classes in that more open engine regs would allow create less speed differentials between GT and LMP classes which again those making the rules don't want to see.In which case we have the situation which we've got now of relatively smaller engined Porsches being more competitive with Corvettes and Astons than would/should otherwise be the case 'if' the Corvettes and Astons were allowed to run with all the available engine choices in their respective ranges without restrictors.Which in this would mean that the Corvettes should be using 700 hp + LS7 engines and Aston should be using it's available 700 hp + 7 litre + V12 engines. In which case no doubt the Porsche fans would then be shouting about the 'dominance' of the Astons and Corvettes just because the rear engined Porsches would be uncompetitive in that type of environment. It's just that in that case it would be the type of dominance which people go,did go,to Le Mans to see in that the best and fastest design wins not a compromised one using articial rules to get ahead.
While it's aso obvious that in the case of Le Mans that the ACO should have the flexibility to act on a wet long range weather forecast by shifting the dates of the event being that it's obvious that wet weather and the type of high speed racing which Le Mans 'should be' all about just don't go together.
