Quieter than normal?

Is it just me but I thought the whole event seemed less busy around the circuit. Sure, still plenty of people but getting around seemed to be easy and generally plenty of space up on the bankings.
As usual though a great weekend....pity it got so cold on Sunday evening, the normal post event party for us at least was not quite so hangover inducing. Stayed with TL again at Terte Rouge, thanks to all there for making life so easy.

I think peak attendance was in 2008 or something. Perhaps the lack of a french competitor or people just saving their money in tough times has something to do with it.
Thats a bit odd (spaces in Houx) as when I tried to book via the official Le Mans site they were sold out. I was also told at the ticket counter in the entrance near houx that there were no more GE tickets for sale which was a shock however we managed to get a spare one on our camp site (beausejour)
Having always been at Houx or Houx annex it was a bit calmer at Bsj but the music and noise still lasted all night and day!

I thought it quieter than previously.
Not so much mad stuff as before.

Perhaps the weather forecast put a few off but in the end apart from 2 down pours pre-race, it was dry and not too hot.

It's interesting talking to people here and comparing notes. Spoke to the owner of the Boule d'Or at Mulsanne and he had a record weekend, serving 334 meals on the Friday for example. Then talked to the other bar at Mulsanne and he was in a towering rage. It's their first year and they laid in lots of food and beer and had virtually no custom at all. Mind you, to be fair I think that is down to his sitting-on-his-hands attitude and not making the effort to make people come to him which compares unfavourably to the previous owner's way of doing things. So yes, at times it seemed quieter what with the rain and all, but ticket sales weren't noticeably different this year to last.
Lol, the "spare spaces" in houx were totally unusable! I walked accross one and lost half a leg in the bog, learnd that pretty quickly...
We thought the convoys down were less than last time, but it might just be that with the tightening of belts compared to 2011, there seemed to be more normal cars and fewer exotics, compared wiqth 2 years ago. It was still plenty busy geting round the banks, outside terte rouge etc, so i'm not sure it was quieter that way either.
One thing that was much quieter - in 2011, there were 3 different crowds of crazy europeans all trying to outdo each other with massive audio rigs in houx. This year, there was no 2am techno whatsoever - i even got some kip at some point. I think i preferred the noisy version, but i certaily feel 3 times as alive today as i did this time 2 years ago...
