According to today's local paper, you only left 360 tons of rubbish behind on the camp sites. This seems to indicate a lack of eating and drinking went on. Shame on you all. It might take three weeks to clean it all up, but I want you all to seriously consider your attitudes for next year. Your teacher is ready to mark your progress.

Having forked out 38 euros for 2 cheese burgers, 2 x frites, a beer and a coke I made sure that nothing was left. Everything was eaten..... including the packaging

We were on Bleu Nord. There were NO bins distributed around the site for us to put rubbish in. At least not where we were. This is the first time I have known that since 1999 nor did I see the dustbin lorry doing its tour (a regular event in past years). So we did what everyone else did and left it in pile at the roadside to be picked up. The pile got bigger and bigger from Thursday and was then cleared late on Saturday. Yes we should all try harder to minimise waste (which as lowdrag points out is in conflict with our natural desire to produce empty stubbie bottles) but in Bleu Nord the ACO were sadly lacking in this aspect of their organisation this year.
The ACO efforts on recycling have gradually improved over the years, but could still be vastly improved on the campsites by splitting the waste into eg metals (cans and broken gazebo poles/ discarded bbqs) glass (stubbies and wine bottles) and general waste.
