Le Mans 2014 Flexotel

Hi.

Mrs Skeeter has decided she wants to experience the 24 hours race and has found this place to stay.

Has anybody stayed there and have a view? Looks kind of cool and a pretty convenient set up.

Not stayed there myself, but have you seen the prices? 750 quid per person without the ferry? And they only open thursday morning till monday morning, so you pay 187,50 per person per night to stay in a luxed up shipping container? Surely there must be better options available. Hotel? As my guess is that mrs. Skeeter doesn't like to camp in a tent? Because if she does, several private campsites in and around the circuit are available which offer more luxury and security than the ACO ones.

Correct Mrs S is a no no for tents. This is close to the start finish straight so an easy walk there and back. Never really thought about a hotel, kind of assumed that there wouldn't be any that were close enough to walk there and back.

Don't think there are, but if you get one near a tramstop it's almost the same. Tramlines are excellent in Le Mans and last two stops are very close to the circuit.

The only real benefit that I can imagine over a tent is if you have a bathroom - looks like you don't so your paying £750 a person for a double bed. High quality inflatable air beds can be had for a lot less than that.

I'd seriously suggest that you think about one of the high end camping sites, if cost is no issue then hiring a camper van would make sense.

Persuade her that slumming it to a degree would be fun and part of the spirit...

If cost isn't the issue I'd go for a hotel nearby or on the tram route, or a motorhome. If cost does come into it both should be do-able for similar money to the flexotel and offer a higher quality of accomodation

Had a look at these myself ... just seem a little stuffy in my eyes. Am all for camping without a tent and decent facilities ... but it just looks a little stale.

Am going with Village on the Curves (Lycian Events). Stayed there in 2012. Fantastic facilities, right next to the track (Porsche Curves) and a great group of people !

Had a look at this option.

In my opinion they are ridicuously over priced. Though I believe they are doing very good business. They are very basic cabins with a temporary bed. Showers are separate. You also have to pay for on site food or do a BBQ. Site was pretty secure, as would be your cabin.

If you want a decent meal you still need to go off site.

However... Why not just book a hotel or other accomodation if you don't want to stay in a tent.

We stay 15mins from track in a hotel. No traffic issues. Rooms are basically €100 a night B&B. Couple of bars and restaurants in the village.

Can't really drink sat evening/night at the circuit (if you stay late), but after the thurs & fri that is no bad thing, plus we more than make up for it on sun night!

You just need to start your search early for accomodation.

Flexhotel allows you to stay in something that isn't a tent at the circuit, but offers many of the same compromises as camping. The cost for this privalige is stupid, no matter how the package is dressed up.

I can stay B&B in a proper hotel, in a proper bed, with a proper bathroom, with general entry, grandstand tickets and parking for the same cost! The costs are less if you share a room.

A very spurious benefit, but I'm sure RLM were waffling on about the flexotel via travel destinations and reckoned a lot of the 'celebs' who go to the race as well as some teams use them. So could be fun for bumping in to people!

These guys appear to be a local estate agent who markets rooms in peoples houses on a bed and breakfast basis, used them 3 times, the families even gave us a free lift to the circuit

I've just had a look at their website and am puzzled. I stayed at Porsche Curves this year, but though that the whole site was operated by Travel Destinations. Or is the Lycian site on the inside of the Curves?

The other side of the Curves, (LYCIAN EVENTS) from the TD site I have been with them before twice very good people and once with TD when it was the Porsche Club camp site.
All fenced off camp site however its a like the 'little Big Horn' as there site is inside another camp site. The TD camp site is on the corner roadside on its own.
I am camping at Bounty with my son, plus he is half price for the package of LeMans camping there which to me is fair.
Also the price is with meals, paid for already breakfast and two course evening meal.

As matter of clarification Village on the Curves is on the inside of Porsche Curves and is accessed through Beusejour but is situated trackside adjacent to the raised banking.

The site is not situated within another site as it is separated from other camping by roads. most of the other private sites are in a similar position including 1st tickets ( PH ) site and Speedchills although neither of these is trackside.

Village on the Curves is secure with full time security as are most private sites and ensures that all our clients can leave the cars and valuables safely whilst enjoying the Le Mans experience.

I still think that this view is one of the best on the circuit!!!!but maybe I am biased

we stayed at TD Porsche Curves in the event tents - pricey but well worth it, just off the main TD campsite so we still used the bars, toilets were spot on etc, so good in fact that we have booked for next year!!
