Porsche curves changes. Private campsite to be axed?
Discussion
My space and location awareness is pretty dire, but if this (artist impression, not ACO official) rendering is correct, won't a private campsite be in the way?

I nicked it from this thread on ten-tenths forum. I think 'Simmi' on his turn nicked it from Autosport somewhere.

I suppose after this year they need to stop cars hitting barriers. Not that cars hit barriers at Porsche curves entry anyway, though I have seen a few cars end their race their (an Am Aston and the RML P2 car spring to mind). Neither were serious accidents In terms of injury or likely to injure) though so getting rid of the entire campsite (which was brilliant by the way) is a big shame.
I hope the person who drew that trap just got the wrong end of the stick or got their boundaries wrong, it seems far, far too big. Also, what is the point having a gravel trap right before the bridge, to catch cars falling off the track?
The narrative from the ACO doesn't seem to match the drawing either

Over the last few days we have received a number of telephone calls with regard to the safety changes being implemented by the ACO at Porsche Curves and the affect it may have on the Travel Destinations private campsite in 2014.
We have discussed the safety proposals with our colleagues at the ACO and wish to inform everyone of the following.
1)The title ‘Porsche curves changes. Private campsite to be axed? This is alarmist and incorrect. The Travel Destinations Campsite at Porsche Curves will be open in 2014.
2)The map that is on this posting and that is featured in Autosport in accurate and is not an official ACO Map.
Hope this clears things up a little.

If we have any further update we will let everyone know.

My thread title was indeed a bit 'sensational' so sorry for the trouble and distress it (may have) caused. I posted it because I was worried the health and safety brigade may have gone a step too far this time which could have led to the closure/moving of your campsite.
Glad to hear that is not the case.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Vince your comments they are very much appreciated. Can i suggest bit more thought might be a good idea before pressing the send button. We have received in excess of 30 calls, emails and text messages since last Friday afternoon whilst i do understand the need to get information out there, we all do need to be careful not to create unnecessary alarm.
If you ever want to check anything please feel free to contact me either by email or by telephone my door is always open no matter what time of day. We work very closely with the guys and gals at the ACO and have great communication between to the two organisations. Whilst we are tour operator we are also very keen to provide as much information and help to the greater Le Mans 24hrs community.
Best wishes
Andrew
