Where to camp?

Went to LeMans for the first time back in 2012 with the old man (PH campsite Bleu Nord) and am looking to return next year, but this time with the girlfriend who has said she wants to go (always been into cars/racing etc.)

For her (and my sake) we would like to stay somewhere with decent showers/toilets and preferably a good communal marquee space in case it rains. It also needs to be secure but close to the circuit and action (with the ability to get the car out for Friday service/supermarket food/beer run) so standard stuff really.

Any recommendations for a novice who wants to keep her happy so return visits would be welcomed?

Take a look at the private camping providers, as that's basically what most of them offer - extra fencing, private security private toilets/showers and a large food/beer tent.

In no particular order:

Pistonheads/1st Ticket - Bleu Nord
SpeedChills - Bleu Sud
Team Langoustine - Tertre Rouge
White Rabbit Racing

I'm sure there are others but these 3 come up regularly with "I had a great time with XXX" threads, rather than "XXX were $*#*" ones.

Try Beermoutain.com a good place to start for infor.
I am camping at Bounty, for a change this years £245 per person my son half price with food breakfast/dinner. We will have lunch out while at the track.
It all depends what you want, there are good and bad points on all the site's.
There are loads of topic's on this site as well.

I've only ever stayed on Houx Annexe and now Houx however, seeing as it is next door to Houx you may want to look up 'Airtrack'

From looking through the fence as we pass by to the track, they (possibly) supply all that you've requested. We had a guy next to us a few years back who's mate was staying there and he seem'd to enjoy the pre made meals and facilities?

Glad you didn't add 'price' as one of your requirements as this (and many others, so I'm lead to believe) are not what you would call 'cheap'

The chap who organises the PH site (Brian, and a fine job he does too) is currently in Le Mans, due back here Thurs / Fri.

It is a requirement to an extent unfortunately but I am realistic.

When I went previously we typically went to the supermarket every other day for supplies and took a small BBQ with us and cooked a mountain of meat whenever we were hungry - that and the crate of beer a day!

I'll give a look over the Beermountain site to see what is being said over there but the only real conditionality is "decent" toilets/showers, security and not being a million miles from everywhere - quite liked Bleu Nord truth be told (would have loved Karting - this was inside the gate? - but think that's shut/oversubscribed now?)

White rabbit racing was good this year, indoor house with projector and Eurosport, small good toilets and shower secure and 5mins to track side with no fence at a marshals post and not that expensive.

It is situated next to porshe curves so good place to be.... 15 mins to the main grandstands

I have stayed at White Rabbit Racing and Team Langoustine for the last 3 years. Both are good and have there merits. For me I will always from now on stay at Team Langoustine. Great location, great facilities, great security and a great atmosphere at the site..

Team Langoustine for sure, however i cant help that you do miss out on the LeMans atmosphere to some extent, its all very civil and calm. Thats not the real LeMans

Personally it's back to Bleu Sud with SpeedChills, for the 3rd year running.

I've stayed at Aitrack twice now, and if you can get over the price, I rate it pretty highly.

Showers, toilets, bar all in good shape.

We stay at Spay and that's always good, the ladies especially always have hot showers and clean toilets-but I would appreciate it if you didn't tell anybody else as Mrs Oldwolf likes the fact it's civilized for her.

We stay at the Lycian events site - though it may have already booked up. Demand is high this year due to Mr Webber and the location on Porsche Curves.

I've been with the folk that oraganise this for the last 6 years - clean and secure site with hot showers, clean loos and fantastic food and bar. Personally, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Glad to hear it - we've booked with them for our first 'on site' Le Mans ever next year!

Thanks for all of the pointers all, from speaking with the gf we have decided to try and get onto the PH site, owing mainly to location although if we don't get an allocation the Lycian site will be the next contender.

We are going to pack the chairs and foldable bikes to mae it a bit more comfortable & quicker to get around the circuit....now to decide on the graphics for the 540i (Grey E39 Sport saloon)

If you are not going with the ACO run campsites (and I can understand that for security reasons) then I would suggest only booking with one of the official agents. So that is 1st Tickets (PH campsite), Travel Destinations (Porsche Curves), Speed Chills (BSJ and/or Blue) or Airtrack (Thomas Cook). They have all been around for a while and are decent companies and seem to have similar products with some unique differences. Choose the best suited to you.

Please remember that Lycian Events is partnered with Just Tickets (who are also an official ticket agent) and they have been around for many years, the ACO fully support this arrangement.

Well, technically I understand that TL are an "Approved Dealer" not an "Official Agency".
I am told that means that they don't get access to all tickets etc. but not sure what else.

It would be good if anyone can explain the difference!??
