Tetre Rouge Campsite

At the umpteenth time of trying we have campsite ticket for Tetre Rouge site. A question; am I right in thinking that the only vehicle entrance to this is just under the bridge by the corner itself? Looks like it on Google.

And no, you also can use the main entrance, go left behind the tribunes and head towards the Dunlop Bridge. There's an entrance too.

The gate by the corner doesn't tend to be manned until Wednesday, if you're going early use the main entrance, once the side gate opens it's much easier

Thanks both for the replies. Was indeed surprised to get a camping ticket for this site. We have a friend who is an ACO member and get the tickets through him but we do every year and it's the first time we've been succesful so not sure the ACO membership has much to do with it. We arrive Wednesday lunchtime so will use the entrance at TR corner.

If you're using the corner gate you might want to go round Le Mans on the motorway and come off at the junction right by Tertre Rouge corner, missing out the town, I'd certainly suggest leaving that way if you're off on the Sunday afternoon / evening. By Monday morning you'll have to leave through the main entrance.

I suggest leaving sunday afternoon. Because this year the security at the gates of Tertre Rouge campsite left at 16:00 hrs, and 'travellers' (p1keys) were roaming the premises at 16:01 hrs

Off after the race, evening ferry at Caen, so no problems with the locals. Post race always seems a bit of an anti climax.

Well done in getting TR for next year, as said the main entry can be used uo until wednesday but after that the one on TR corner is the only way in or out, During Practice and the race it is a slow trip getting in or out by car due to volume of people walking but the advantage of being close to everything means you don't always need to use the car. TR is the hardest site to get but don't expect a noisy, party crazy site, mostly populated by the over 50's english/dutch long term race fans who like me found the site in the last century and have always stayed loyal.

Must admit I'm looking forward to this and no, we're not into LOUD (except the cars, that is) so hoping that TR lives up to our expectations. We'll enjoy it whatever though.

Well kept an eye on here and the who is on which site, TR will I think have quite a few people from the forums both english and dutch staying in 2014

I have a group of 8 for our 9th visit to the TR site having graduated via Houx and Karting which were never the same once the organisers started numbering pitches. We're all looking forward to 2014 after missing this year's race; TR accommodates a mix of race goers in terms of nationality, group size, cars parked and age but everyone gets along. Pleasingly some websites give TR a thumbs down for atmosphere which means there's less pressure for places but word is gradually spreading year on year.

We usually arrive on Wednesday via the temporary gate, use this for access all weekend and then use the main entrance on Monday to get out. We always ignore the campsite direction signs on the city's approach roads and just stick to the dual carriageway/ outer ring road until the last moment.
