Glad to see he does so on a high.
Had the (dis)pleasure to see Jimmy White play snooker live a few weeks ago, and it was a sorry sight. Stopping after just having won a World Championship is the way to go.
All the best for Allan!

Shame and never expected that but he's retiring on a high so fair play to him. Be interesting to see what he does next

I didn't see this news coming! Quite shocked.

Definitely thought he had a few more years at the top. A loss for audi.

So basically VAG group decided that Porsche are winning Le Mans year, Audi told McNish that he'd therefore have to let Webber win, multi21 style, and McNish told them to bugger off hehe

Hence retirement?

That's a shame,

My first visit to Le Mans was in 2011...and he went into the barrier right in front of me. I went back to Le Mans this year and he won.

So I guess I have seen his highs and lows! (apart from not seeing his other wins)

At least we can cheer Webber on with less patriotic guilt

Thats a real shame. I thought he may have moved to Porsche to repeat the 1998 win but not retire altogether.

Best of luck to him, hope he doesn't become just another pundit, he is better than that IMO.

Thought he would end up as a pundit ! Was surprised when he announced his retirement, but I wouldn't be surprised if he took up an offer to drive in this years Le Mans , retired to early in my opinion,
