Staying on "Beausejour campsite" first time virgin
Discussion
Hi all, Staying on Beausejour campsite driving there on the wednesday, getting into Cean 07:30am, on britteny ferries from portsmouth.
Ive booked 3 pitches, theres only 4 of us heading over.
Wondered who's staying on the same camp site, and recommendations where to pitch, where not to pitch etc. Also is there a BMW area to pitch up at? or is there certain areas?
i don't really know much on this site. Wasn't my first choice but left it too late......
Any advice welcome thanks

BJ's good fun. Watch out for deep mud. Take boots. Don't be afraid to walk it, before you drive it - we saw a Q7 get stuck simply because it's sills were resting on the ground... Then there was the van which tried to follow a caterham that had skated over mud.....
Take ear plugs. Watch out for a french caravan with awing and tents. They play Eurotrash loud till stupid O'clock.
If you park at the far end of BJ, it's a bit of a walk to the circuit - even more to the village.
Don't reply on the free buss to the other corners. The queue turns to chaos as soon as the bus arrives, and you vcan get well and truly stuck at the other end. We usually have a driver who hold off the drink until we've done these corners/.
Our best solution to date for cold beer has been a 12v coolbox packed with beer and ice, plugged in for the journey, topped up with ice from the local supermarket each day.
The campsite seems to have its own storm system. At some point your tents will be challenged. Be prepared.
We like luxury, and often take a toilet tent with a chemical toilet. Others laugh, but eventually they are jealous.
Be prepared for mud.

Beermountain good again for advice, lock your car doors as you drive down to the road to the campsite.
There are some Beermountain veterans on BSJ this year - look for their flags. You'll find them helpful to a fault. As SEE YA said, have a look at the BM (Beermountain) website, ahead of the event.surveyor said:

Some sound advice, thanks! i didn't realise about the mud being so bad. I think the toilet idea is a must. Take ear plugs. Watch out for a french caravan with awing and tents. They play Eurotrash loud till stupid O'clock.

I have looked on the beer mountain website, and theres some good stuff, but much of the advice seems to be a few years back, just want to be up to date.
whats security like? will i have to leave my beer looked in the car? last thing i want is to have to chase people round a muddy field getting my stuff back lol.
Thanks

Why too late? There's loads of availability out there for most of the camping areas. You're looking in the wrong place mate! Ive booked 3 pitches, theres only 4 of us heading over.

As you drive in, follow the road as it bares left. Then you will see some ditches on your right (avoid them) about 3/4 way in you should come across a right turning which takes you to rest of site. As you drive down there stop before the fence (20 or so yards) and pitch up to the right. Excellent little spot
PS don't drive on the path to the fence but on the grass other side of the ditch

There are reports every year of thefts - but usually think like bikes and generators. Our beer has always been safe, touch wood. There have been thefts from tents at night, and some people reckon you should sleep with car keys in the sleeping bag. I reckon my cars not that desirable,I have looked on the beer mountain website, and theres some good stuff, but much of the advice seems to be a few years back, just want to be up to date.

There was 1 clever clogs who thought it would be a good idea to put a basketball in some sort of metal container with an explosive in it. Thankfully he soon realised he was being a bell end and stopped.
In terms of security, I lock anything of any value in my car and sleep with my key in the sleeping bag. I never leave anything of value in the tent at any point. Same as I do at any music or other festival. Last night in particular as the gypsies arrive to take what you don't want or want but did not secure. Never had any damage to cars etc. fellow campers were a delight and regular drinking sessions were in full swing from moment they arrived.
In terms of ear plugs, yes this is a loud party ish campsite with music blaring into the early hours. None the less, I found it to be a lot tamer than what people make out it is......maybe I'm not old enough yet.
Golden rule - get friendly with fellow campers and look out for each other's stuff.

What do you mean on the drive down to the campsite mate? Things like water pistols not always water either? I am sure other people will tell you on here.
That is why I park up at the site, the car does not move till Monday.
It's l.....o.....n.....g way from BSJ to the stadium/village area, even further if you are some way in. Consider getting some bikes. There's a nice viewing bank at the Porsche Curves at the edge of the site though.
GET SOME EARPLUGS. That will lessen the music noise but the gas-guns will still get through.
Barrier tape and stakes are a must to stop drunken folk wandering past and tripping on your guy-lines.
On the way in, after you pass under the circuit and before the roundabout where the entrance is a crowd of hoons gathers and expects you to do burnouts and other stuff to amuse them. This slows the traffic down to a crawl so get your shopping expedition to the Super-U in Arnage done early. As folk say, beware of the "water" pistols.
Security (such as it is) goes AWOL after the finish so make sure everything is locked away out of sight on Sunday.

Barrier tape you say? So youre the one that sets up the limbo for us every year! GET SOME EARPLUGS. That will lessen the music noise but the gas-guns will still get through.

Been to BSJ 4 years in a row always camp in a quiet area (until the race) never had a problem in all the years we've been going so far. Will be going to the same spot again, look for the white ovlov with police lights!
Edit: Don't take car out friday evening/night at ALL costs!
