Hello I've just found in storage my first time visit to Le Mans photographs, about 40 of them! My original hat n bits n pieces.
My biggest memory was seeing 5 cars overtaking on the straight over 200mph at 2am about 10 feet away while I was holding a beer in a glass at the cafe!!!!!.. ..stunning. ..
Can you see yourself in this one?

I was there as well but also not in that picture - how great does that look - I remember sneaking onto the pit balcony in the middle of the night ! That was my eighth year at Le Mans.
I think you would get shot by a Gendarme if you tried to do that now.
Sigh ........ That's progress for you.

I have many fantastic memories of my many trips to Le Mans over the last 34 years, missed only a few over the years for births, deaths and marriages etc. Used to do the May practice session as well and now double up with the Classic which my wife loves as well - I have always refused her the 24 hours on the grounds that it is the "Lads" weekend and not suitable for wives in general.(and sadly getting less and less woman friendly as the years pass)
Over the years we have done the lot - from Chateau to sleeping in the car, camping on and off site.
In the early days we used to do the pit signalling at the Mulsanne signal point at the golf club - sadly no longer used as radio has taken over. Yes that was Chamberlain Engineering we worked for back then.
Looking forward this year to Porsche returning and Mark Webber not having the same "aerodynamic" problems as he had before !!
