I have been involved in this for some time now working with the crew on the programme and various filming places, but you might like to know that Steve McQueen's son Chad will be at the Classic this year. I can't say more for the moment but look out for him around the circuit - and elsewhere!

I think a remake of that film will upset just about all the PC types, the sexism the use of fossil fuels and as far as i can remember everyone in it was white anglo saxon and then there is the rude gessure at the end

No, not a remake. That might be the new film being made next year here called "Go Like Hell" for which there are rumours that Tom Cruise might get the lead. Check your internet. Anyway, they are coming and filming with a Hollywood budget behind them. This is a documentary, a retrospective on the making of the film and the recollections of Steve's son Chad during it.

Why would you want Tom Cruise when Patrick Dempsey is probably a better actor and driver. scratchchin

Don't shoot the messenger. I am only repeating what I have seen on the internet. It might be Burt Reynolds for all I know, but he is somewhat old if a talented driver in his day. rolleyes

Historically accurate though, not a strong point in Hollywood I know.

Dempsey would be better but the Scientology leader is a bigger draw perhaps

At least Cruise is the right size to be a race driver. He sure as hell ain't Jack Reacher.

Ah but will it fit the usual Tom Cruise film formula? To quote a comedian:

At first he was a student, and a pretty damn good student too until something happened and he wasn't a great student any more. Then, he had a life changing experience and suddenly, he was the best student ever.

Then he was a military pilot, and a pretty damn good military pilot too until something happened and he wasn't a great military pilot any more. Then, he had a life changing experience and suddenly, he was the best military pilot ever.

Then he was a pool player, and a pretty damn good pool player too until something happened and he wasn't a great pool player any more. Then, he had a life changing experience and suddenly, he was the best pool player ever.

Then he was a barman, and a pretty damn good barman too until something happened and he wasn't a great barman any more. Then, he had a life changing experience and suddenly, he was the best barman ever.

Then he was a Nascar driver, and a pretty damn good Nascar driver too until something happened and he wasn't a great Nascar driver any more. Then, he had a life changing experience and suddenly, he was the best Nascar driver ever.

Then he was a soldier...laywer...secret agent...sports agent...secret agent...policeman...samurai...
