Hi,

How many Euros do people tend to take with them for the weekend?

I've got petrol and tolls to pay (split between 5) and then beer and food.

I was thinking £300?

Any advice? I realise some peoples budgets might be different!

I budget for about £400-500 for the weekend.

I'm usually in a TVR, so fuel is circa £150 x 2 (split costs with passenger), £30-40 for the tolls and the rest is spent on beer/meat.

If you're planning on speeding, budget for £1400-£1500 wink

Was thinking the same thing.

Is that £40 each way for the tolls?

Am on the catered PH site so figured it was really only my Fri night in town that would be a few quid.
Disregarding fuel, was going to take £250 for two of us.

I normally take about €250 with me and pull more out of the hole in the wall as required. I managed to come back with about €11 in a €5 note and change last time.

I know I could probably save by getting more € in one transaction but where is the sense in having €500 in your pocket for someone to dip it?

My mate is on a tight budget, having just had his car go bang on him, so I won't be going mad on fancy meals etc. I don't reckon!

Arriving Thurs AM then hitting the Carrefour to stock up on essentials which I'll stick on the card, then got €200 cash to last the rest of the weekend...

The only thing I HAVE to buy is a 2014 official t-shirt for my boy - he'll go nuts if I don't!!

This is my 12th Le Mans, never spent more than 300euros including fuel for a V8.. going with my father this year so probably drink less and might come back with money in my pocket!

BUT, it depends if I get pulled by the men in blue, the route I go these days reduces the risk.

Im sure you can spend hundreds, but you can have a very good time on 300.

The catering facilities have a bar area & if you aren't careful, it can get a little mad drinks mad on the Sunday night as there are fewer there & it is a bit of a party all in all! I seem to remember that the bar was pretty depleted when they finished late on Sunday eve....one of our team enjoyed himself so much he was seen looking as if he was single handedly holding up a Transit about an hour or two later hehe

I've just been to get mine, €275 for Weds to Sunday, but the guys I'm going with owe me another €225 - hopefully I'll bring some of that back with me to go towards a long weekend we've got planned to Barcelona

If you're in London, I can use these guys: https://www.bestforeignexchange.com/contact-us.htm... and reserve online for collection in branch for a better rate. No idea how they keep their spreads so tight on a retail / bricks and mortar setup.

Have a look here for the best rates:

www.travelmoneymax.com

Best Foreign Exchange the best place currently if in London. Depending on what crossing you are taking, Travelex have several locations and have a price match promise if you can be bothered to email them a claim. They will match the best rates and may be more convenient to collect, but may only be worth the effort if changing a reasonable amount otherwise may not be worth it to get a cheque sent for something like £3.04p
