Hi all,

Just gearing up for my first trip to Le Mans! We are off for a close friend's stag do so should be a great weekend!!

I was just wondering if anyone could:

a) Clarify the do's and don'ts of alcohol at the campsites; and
b) Whether it's better to buy over here (bearing in mind World Cup drinks promotions are in some supermarkets) or wait until we are in France?

Thanks!

DO...drink a lot

DO NOT...throw up

DO....build a bottle sculpture out of the little stubby beer bottles[it's the law]

DO NOT....miss the race due to hangover.

Buy beer when you get there, the Carrefour will be well stocked.

[I'm not even going this year]

DO....ENJOY....biggrin

ETA...DO NOT.....drink n drive.

Warning, they are trying to ban cases of bottles on the campsites, so stealth mode is needed, cover up any beer cases and bury them deep in the car out of site otherwise they may try to take them off you wink

Have fun, Hip flask is also a handy item. wink

Have fun,
The new PC 21 st century Le Mans.Don't exceed 80 mph on the autoroutes or 56 mph on the RN's on the way there or back and drink only bottled water while watching the green party approved hybrids in the race.lol

Sad isn't it frown They got rid of the strippers years ago too frown I still love Le mans but miss the atmosphere of the old village. Stella bar at Tet Rouge is still good though, see you there biggrin

I usually buy there but got 30 cans from Tesco so I can take it down cold, will see how that goes and stock up if need be.

A big coat is useful to get into the circuit if its not too hot, with big pockets.

As is Houx and it's not been an issue in 15 years.

Can you take it into the circuit or do you have to buy it from the bars? We're parked in vert so wondering if we can just take a cooler box in the boot

Thanks for all the tips guys!! Looks like it's more sensible to buy down there so will load up when we get there. Really looking forward to it, the stag is a regular so should know all the good spots! Thanks again and hopefully run into a few of you down there!

Fatboy18, just be aware that it is rumoured that the Tertre Rouge bar is going under, so while still there at the moment it might not be next year. Many bars are failing in France nowadays; just not enough custom in the current climate. But here's an old photo before the fencing et al:-

There are still marshals on the pedestrian exits of Houx that could check you wink And the vehicle main entrance of Houx is NOT inside the inner pedestrian part of the circuit.
The TL site you actually drive along the pedestrian footpath to the internal entrance and then security is provided by TL Staff. So if marshals wanted to remove beer from you as per ACO Rules, technically they could!
