It's about time the Police got a little more involved with Le Mans and started bringing into check morons who spoil the weekend for others.

For example Mad Friday. It's just a chav-fest of drunk yobs who use a legendary motor race as a cover for antics that on any other road in France would be deemed both illegal and dangerous, yet because (and only because) it's at Le Mans then it's fair game.

We had a fab time at the race, but these horror stories are getting out of hand now and desperately need dealing with.

I hear that the Le Mans Classic is a more civilised affair and will probably make that my choice when I finally manage to make the trip.

It used to be civilised, but now it is also becoming one of those life boxes to tick and for stag weekends although nowhere near as bad as the main race behaviour. The problem is that theoretically we with classic cars are entitled to internal parking but even we press couldn't find a space at the last one. It's a victim of its own success, and prices are going to be infernal if the same as last weekend. 9 euros a pint inside the circuit? Paella at 15 euros? I'll go down on the Thursday and then just watch the racing from outside.

That about sums up my weekend. Met some great people, and sadly some people who need culling.

As an alternative view, we had a lovely time as always, the group outside Bleu Sud were actually very polite which was surprising!

Mulsanne was quiet but we were some of the first yobs to drive through looking at the fairly clean tarmac (only one previous pair of 11s)

We camp at Maison Blanche and have always had a perfectly decent time, and we're a bunch of middle class white bds.

Perhaps if you venture all over the track later in the day it's worse, we've always settled down to some beer by then...

Not sure if you are giving the crashed XF thingy as an example what happens if nobs go unchecked and the three cars listed contain the perps for that, or if the three cars are just examples of IYHO nobbish behaviour per se?
Either way not sure about this thread being a suitable place to raise it tbh.

Agree with above totally - we did 10 years on Houx and the decline in behaviour and standard of facilities over the past few years has been very noticeable. Private camping on Porsche curves this year which was fantastic. Only issue was getting back from Arnage on Friday because the Danish chavs were out in force!

Just seen a post on WEC fans forum that someone got hit by Swiss registered Bentley outside Houx on Friday.

If anyone has any info they'd be very grateful as the fella concerned has a broken leg as a result.

I'll not pass comment on either side for blame, but can't but help suspecting if mad Friday, AKA stupid drunken twunt Friday, had been clamped done on that it would not have happened.

This year was the first that I agree with previous posters - the Houx mad friday bit was just a chav fest. Very few cars coming to show off, and so the mob got too keen. I only lasted for 15 mins before going back to the campsite.

For the rest of the event tho, I didn't see anything bad in Houx campsite itself. Dead firendly as ever, I don't know why people assume the public sites are war zones. In fact, the only 2 episodes of extremely bad behaviour I have read about were in the private PH campsite. Mad, isn't it?

Our camp neighbour told me about that. Apparently it was well deserved...

The three cars listed contained the people who crashed the stolen cart into the XF. They were all on the cart when it hit the car and they drove off drunk back to Calais at 1.30am after threatening people around them who tried to intervene.

I know the chap in the Cerbera, very well and he's a thoroughly nice guy and very well thought of by his friends and family. A million miles from what you are suggesting. In fact he would be hurt if he saw this post, given he loves Le Mans and is a car enthusiast, who is the first to help his friends out when they need it. I can't believe for one moment he was involved in whatever you are suggesting as the picture you paint is just wrong. It just doesn't add up.

I used to love the idea of taking a nice car to Le Mans, but after reading the threads over the last two or three years, I think a bargain barge would be my weapon of choice. It seems that anything that should be appreciated by petrolheads actually turns you into a bit of a target!

The group on the cart 100% came from a camp that was within a few paces of where the Cerb was parked all weekend.

R_T I suggest you get all your facts totally correct before naming and shaming, as i'm getting quite sick of my car being plastered all over the internet, i've contacted the jag owner (you can check with him if you like) and offered my help with the police as i have nothing to hide. I hadn't been drinking on sunday as needed to catch a morning crossing on monday.

You seemed quite happy to plaster it all over the internet yourself on this thread:

Don't worry, no one I spoke to had seen the sag burn out, could have been worse, you could have crashed into an Audi in the PH enclosure!

I flew the flag for the ones who couldn't, maybe you can take over next year?

I would tread carefully, like I have already stated, I have contacted the jag owner, happy to co-operate with him or the police, as i have nothing to hide. Was questioned by security and they seemed happy after the said event.

Im not happy about the accusations because my car is identifiable, i would be gutted if it was my car and doing everything to try and get justice, however please get your facts right.
