This year, after trying to get camping tickets for this site but being issued with tickets for virtually every other site at LM, we actually got TR tickets. We were talking to somebody on the site, as you do, who had been there ten years on the trot. How does that happen? One of our group, who hasn't been for a couple of years due to children etc, is an ACO member and gets the tickets from them when they become available so what are we doing wrong. Now we've been on TR once does that mean it'll be easier next time. I need answers! Please.......

You need to go direct to a ticketing agency, you will pay more, but are then guaranteed pitches and grandstands instead of the ACO annual lottery guessfest.

We used to do ACO but one year ended up with Dunlop grandstand seats and BSJ 'campsite'.... Never again!

Now we go through Just Tickets and get exactly what we want (other agencies are available) every year.

We arrived tuesday this year and was surprised how many people were there, by Wednesday all the good spots were gone and althought there was still space at the far end it was much fuller than usual at that time, People arriving Thursday/Friday had no where to pitch unless they had people there already. Usual situation with some large are's marked off with a single tent or caravan and no one there until saturday, security this year was tight on the gates but no one policing those people with arriving in large vehicles with single tickets taking massive area's. The pressure for allocated spaces will unfortunately soon put an end to the last decent unallocated site i believe. Very quiet this year and the return of the big screen opposite the gate was a nice surprise.
This site is expensive and hard to get, but i would say now that unless you either arrive on Wednesday or before it is not for you, by thursday the spaces left are empty for a reason and if it rains they will get very damp or they are close to the concert/remains of the fun fair

We arrived late Wednesday and were surprised to find the "top" end full already, but plenty of space lower down from the shower blocks. Site was pretty full by Thursday pm. Security seemed good and was still there post race Sunday when we left, plenty of people staying by the look of it. Best site we've been on although quite noisy what with the LM by pass rush hour in the mornings. Having said that, my two sons were on BSJ under the trees beyond the pond/farm which looked quite cosy, at least for BSJ. Will look into getting tickets from an agency but pity to lose the discount from the ACO.

We got chatting to a couple of different camps with massive areas and to be fair to them they had purchased more permits than they had vehicles in order to rope off a decent space, I appreciate that it deprives someone else a chance to park a car and pitch a tent but by no means are all of these massive camps taking the p155.

We also arrived a day earlier than the rest of our group and the site staff were happy to see photocopies of the other permits which were travelling the next day and as such were happy with our camp size.

Back to the OP, as previously advised, an early reservation with a ticket agency is the only way to go in order to guarantee a TR permit.

We had 2 pitches (and 2 tickets), but only 1 van. I was a bit cheesed of with the French who turned on on Sunday roped off good pitches and then cleared off, not to be seen again until the race. I'd probably do the same if I lived near though.
