Le Mans Classics and the Ferry Fun
Discussion
Looks like lots of us are on our way down to the classics from the UK, and in my particular case going via DFD at Portsmouth.
I am sure this might have been dealt with before, but has anyone done this crossing before, especially with a LOW car?
I intend to take my Ultima, so need a heads-up on what to expect when loading time comes around!
Are they helpful at this port? Do they take care?
Are they equipped to deal with ultra-low vehicles? I can just about get over normal UK speed-bumps, but ramps might be a different thing....

They should be able too adjust the ramp if you ask. I just press a button I am sure this might have been dealt with before, but has anyone done this crossing before, especially with a LOW car?

Not had a problem even many years ago when they had a fixed ramp system. They just got constructive with bits of wood. Even had the Load Master laying on the floor in the rain watching the underside of my car whilst inching me forwards. Plenty of care and attention.
Now the ramps are multi adjustable. I have had the situation where they leveled the ramp for two low cars to drive on then moved the whole ramp down and level with the deck so we could then drive on.
Expect to get split up from others in your party (you will be directed into a different lane) as they will likely put you on last along with the HGVs. The reason for this is that the cars normally have to go up or down internal ramps to access all decks. These ramps do not adjust. The HGV deck is straight on and off.
See you there.
