Different Routes to Le Mans

Hi All, this will be my 4th Le Mans and we've always just stuck to the motorways when traveling from Calais. This year we are getting an earlier ferry so we have more time to take the scenic route, any suggestions on some alternative routes to take hopefully including somewhere good to stop for a nice lunch!

Doesn't have to be all avoiding motorways just fancy a change this year.

Well we have since the Calais Rouen motorway was opened tried using the back roads but it is not always that easy as all routes keep sending you back to the autoroutes. However after rouen we have always used the old roads (old n138) plenty of lovely places to stop on that route.

Motorway to Roeun, then the old N138 , much more civilised and relaxed, plus many places to stop and enjoy the local food, break up the journey
