From MB to Houx - Experiences
Discussion
We had to move from MB to Houx this year, and my observations are :
Electricity a big plus over MB
Track access not as good as MB
Noise levels appeared to be lower for both Circuit and Partying.
Thieves appear to just as prevalent (We had an iPhone and my bike taken via Bolt Croppers)
Toilets stank
No visible cleaning crew, which was a big surprise, as Blue Nord and MB they were always around.
Showers were hot, although one block had a reputation for being cold later in the day.

Houx was quieter (mostly...) this year, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Toilets / showers were cleaned (the main block anyway) albeit not constantly. But with the right timing I didn't have to queue for a shower all weekend, only for the toilets (and they all had loo paper), so the amount of facilities available seemed about right.
Agree on track access, and the security guys on the gates to the track seemed to disappear straight after the race. Didn't see any do-as-you-likeys this year though, so maybe the security bods were still there on Sunday evening.
We stayed on Houx annexe and also had two bikes stolen, cut through two chain and took two bike still clamped together with a u lock, thanks to travel destinations for taking the lads to the police station yesterday. Talking to other people on the site they had quite a few bikes off the site. Put a bit of a damper on another great weekend as two lads didn't get to ride out to watch at Arnarge which is always a highlight for us. Apart from that we had a good weekend away, racing was great and everyone we met on site was friendly and having a great time. If anyone has a recomendation for another site give me a shout. Roll on 2016.

Having stayed on both sites that sounds about usual ukcobra.
Been about 5 years since I've been on Houx but the trick used to be to NOT use the permanent toilet block by the cafe but walk down to the temporary ones at the kink in the fence. More 2015 than 1815 in the plumbing department.

We were in Houx this year. Nothing nicked, but some idiots set off a load of fireworks only a few yards away from our camp. Falling ash burnt holes in the top of my brand new pop-up tent, which I am very pissed off about.
I was sat at Blue Nord this year looking over towards the funfair and saw loads of fireworks in that general direction and wondered if it was an organised display or just a collection of randoms.. There were a few close calls with fireworks near our camp as well, although I was more worried about the cars that the hired tents..We were on Houx this year after 6 years on MB and thought it was pretty good. Power was a very welcome addition.
The main toilet block was a bit dated and not as clean as maybe it could have been but I didn't expect much more. The separate shower block opposite was ok though and always had hot water when I used it and never had to que for more than 5 mins.
Was definitely quieter than MB and the only time we heard any music was on Sunday night.
Track access is a bit more difficult but not a major issue. We will be trying to get on MB again next year but would have no issue going back to Houx if we can't get a pitch again

We stayed at BSJ.
Security extremely tight checking all cars as you entered, still gated Monday with no
s knocking around.
Nothing stolen and didn't hear of any stories. Feel for those that had their weekend end on a sour note.
Toilets/showers were clean and maintained regulary with little queuing time. The BSJ overflow site has massive queues last year in comparison.

We moved to Mulsanne from MB. Very much different as you can imagine, we did miss the lack of access to the main areas of the circuit. Security wasn't great, the chaps next door to us had a laptop and ipad stolen. Apparently, one local would come into the camp, kick off and get in the face of the campers while someone nipped round the back and stole whatever. Lots of idiot locals fighting by the viewing point, trying to throw bottles onto the track.
We went from MB to Houx Annexe. Whist I think MB is better overall Houx Annexe certainly had it's advantages such as easier for the Carefour run and the fact that we couldn't just open the tent and watch the Porsche Curves meant that we actually made time to go up to the track, meaning we saw more of the race.
Campsite was quiet-ish and some of the neighbours were less friendly than MB but it wasn't bad by any means. Mate of mine was on Beausejour which was one step down from down town baghdad by all accounts.

I was tempted to try out Mulsanne next year but on the basis of that post I think I'll reconsider
- thanks for the postFirst time on Le Houx having been MB last two times and BSJ prior to that. I was on the fence line next to the outside road just inside the campsite entrance, was pleasantly surprised and thought the security etc was pretty good; one thing which was a big plus was the lack of generators rumbling away (in that section anyway) presumably due to the amount of electrical hook ups - we've had some nightmares on MB with units being placed next to our tents...
