We discovered about ten years ago that you could just turn up, and pay at the gate, and camp, which we have been doing so ever since... until this year's cock-up!

We were less than amused turning up Thursday evening to be told no more tickets, so we ended up camping on the grass verge along the main road along with many French and Belgium groups who had been using BSJ without any advanced booking also for years.

Friday morning ACO officials turned up telling us to move on, which we ignored, After a con-flab with the other campers we all agreed to stay put unless the Gendarmes or CRS got involved.

That evening cycling back from dinner at Arnage we saw a mob of morons climbing on cars at the BSJ roundabout which the authorities choose to ignore so we realized a few wild campers were pretty low on their agenda. Ironically the CRS made a big show of force down in the Arnage high street and looked on at a few wheel spins while a mob were terrorizing motorists up the road!

Anyone else end up homless for the weekend?

The flics could have easily divided themselves between Arnage and BSJ roundabout and made everyone's life a lot better. I drove from Arnage to BSJ past about 10 police carriers coming in the other direction completely unaware of the zombie apocalypse I was heading for.

I did say we didn't book as we have been just turning up for the last 10 year, some Belgian guys said they had been just turning up without booking for 25 years, are you starting to get the picture?

Why would you not book? I know you've been doing this for years, but I don't think you can really legitimately call it anyone else's cock up but your own.

Booking is so simple, why not do it?

When there are 263,500 people all needing somewhere to stay, it doesnt surprise me at all. Also remember a sizable portion of Maison Blanche is no longer available.

More people, less room. Book next time.

There might be less Camping at Arnage if the road improvements at the corner go ahead, there are saying half or more of the existing field will be gone

Interesting, when's that likely to take place?

Its in the planning stage. They are saying that the road coming down from Arnage village and meets the corner is not wide enough, thus to many lorries scraping each other due to the lack of width. It may not happen for next year its a case of the cost as usual
