Did anyone see any on the motorways? We didn't see a single gendarme all the way from Calais to Le Mans and back.

One radar tripod and one hidden Police Mégane.
But that's about it...very quiet indeed. They must have heard it would rain.

There was two coppers hiding in some long grass just after Rouen yesterday. Spotted them with a speed gun and radio just as a Merc came screaming passed us, half a mile later two police bikes were pulling him over.

Police presence really was minimal this year. Quite surprised.

Perhaps there's no-one to police these days since everyone behaves so well.

I too was surprised by this both on the roads and at the track. I think we spotted one Police car on the entire trip. I didn't witness and bother at the track and it was very sedate on the roads. All in all a great trip smile

Drove down on Fri am, back on Sun pm; through Rouen both times. Didn't see a single Policeman or speedtrap either way. Saw a couple of Police vans at the tolls but no coppers walking about.

Odd as last year I saw Police w/ speedtraps as far back as the outskirts of Calais. Didn't notice many Police at or around the circuit in either.

Must've been when we were travelling but roads were really quiet both ways & aside from some motorway roadworks and the inevitable Le Mans trafffic at Arnage etc we had very clear journeys.

It's all a cunning plan to lull you into a false sense of security for next year... wink

There were some around the public part of the circuit on Thursday...but it's OK, the driver's wife enjoyed getting to drive the Tuscan 2 all the way back through France after the race laugh

I saw the hidden Megane on the way down. One of our convoy also encountered them on the way down on the A28 (playing catch up with the rest of us - 90 Euro fine) just after where the Megane had been sitting. On the way back the UK registered Porsche Panamera that was sitting on peoples rear bumpers and forcing everyone over at 140kph so he could zip off in to the distance at what appeared to be 210kph also got stopped after being spotted by the 2 female cops in cammo gear hiding in a hedge and radioing ahead to the cops on bikes. If you're on here Porsche driver - thanks, as without you doing that speed it would have been me that got pulled over! Cheers!

We saw plenty on the way back immediately after the race on Sunday. Usual hiding spots.

I saw a Police RS Megane chasing after a French plated Audi A6 on Wednesday on the toll between Rouen and Le Mans. Other than that I only saw one bike-cop on the way back Monday. There seemed to be a lot less than in recent years.

The Gendarmes were definitely out there off the Autoroute wink We came across one guy who'd just donated €750 to the coffers on his first visit to LM - it all adds to story of a good trip I'm sure!?

On the Rouen-Calais route? We left straight after the race and didn't see one!

On Friday afternoon saw two police cars hiding behind overpasses on the way down the A28.

Yup,on the route back to Calais immediately after the race, we saw cops on bikes, the Megane was just backing into a hidey hole on the A28.
Waze had lots of reports of cops, most of them by the time we had got there had moved on.

We were back at the car by 15:25 and on the Autoroute by 15:45.

Had just commented to my passenger, who was on his first trip, that it was unusual not to see any of them all the way down, and during the way back and that I fancied a little blast, but knowing my luck I would get caught. As we were talking I noticed a blue M3 in my rear view mirror approaching at a decent rate. Just as he drew along side me we passed one of the small slips and out shot a bike lights flashing. Signalled to the M3 and pulled him over at the next pull off

I have been going to LeMans for 25 years. Have never had a ticket, or any complaints about the Gendarmes etc, but this year I was disgusted.
Outside Alencon on the way home I was pulled over and charged for doing 141KMH, fined and sent on my way.
That would be totally acceptable had it been true. However, we did not break 90KMH between Alencon and where we were pulled.
The Gendarme told me that the affending car was black and the same make as mine. That was the only evidence.
This is shameful and there should be some method of recourse.

We travelled down on Wednesday from the tunnel and only saw one car hiding in a services. We went to see some friends camping at a nearby chateau thursday afternoon and there were 2 in a car on the slip road to the dual carriageway (d20bis > d323) leading to the track but luckily some locals flashed us to warn. Then on the way back yesterday there was a car just on a slip road but luckily I wasn't at illegal speeds then. Lastly the sneakiest was the 2 ion the long grass as previously mentioned - was expecting to see some bike cops as 2 or 3 astons went hooning past but didn't, so i guess they got away with it :-)

It's at that point I'd offer to show the nice gendarme the GPS-logged video evidence of me doing 90km/h at the time...

Interesting, similar timing as me! I was on the tail of a small convoy and it sounds like it was just luck that we didn't see any flashing blue lights.
