Obviously over the LM weekend hotels in the vicinity of the circuit get all booked up / don't offer anything other than package deals (3nights) so if I was looking for just the Saturday night preferably north / east of the circuit where is closest?

Go on the booking.com map cause it shows what's still free on your preferred date. Just had a quick look and you can still get a £50 auberge option out past Belleme but that's a 30/40 miler

We stay regularly north of the circuit on Friday and Sunday nights and we sleep in the car on Saturday night at on circuit parking. Closest we usually get by booking ourselves well in advance is around 80 miles north of Le Mans.

Cool, thanks for that, actually a bit closer than I thought, so pleasantly surprised. Definitely food for thought, possibly for next year as this is a Classic year but who knows....

A regular crowd of Brits stay at the Tribunal, a three star Logis at Mortagne au Perche. Great restaurant and beer. It's about 40 miles NE of Le Mans. An easy and picturesque hours run to the track. 14th consecutive year for me. Highly recommended.

Bobo,

My comment about being around 80 miles north of the circuit applies when we go to LM24. For Le Classic, we get rather closer and use a hotel that is around 35 miles from the circuit which we're doing this year.

You really need to be in Le Mans for friday night, one of THE best things about the weekend.

According to my sister, Hotel tivago is the better website with best discounts or try to book direct. http://www.trivago.co.uk/?iPathId=36825&iGeoDi...

I've done Alencon a few times. There was plenty of availability even when I booked at last minute a few years ago. Even the quiet drive at 1am for a few hours sleep (sorry! wasn't too bad.
