A tiny bit of research revealed this amazing website...

I don't think a programme has been released yet, but I think Group C is more than a race, I think it is now one of the groups (Plateau) and as such multiple races. I was going to give CLM a miss this year, but I cannot wait to see/hear cars such as Porsche, Jaguar, Mazda at Arnage at night....
Just a little bit excited about this year.
Just a little bit excited about this year.
The whole of the Classic is a bit of a puzzle at the moment. I need to know the grid order and times for photography but no one will tell me with which grid they are starting this year. From 2002 to 2010 it went in numerical order, but since then differently. 2014 it went 6-1-2-3-4-5 for example. Which still leaves the Group C race to fit in.
The reason I don't go anymore is due to them not updating the plateau's. Kept seeing the same cars every other year and the cut off point was just at the point I started going so it would be great to see those cars racing. I guess shifting the plateaus forward would mean loosing some of the real old stuff. A supporting Group C race does not really make up for it, great as it may well be.
I have to say, I hadn't appreciated the Group Cs were not one of the plateau doing multiple races and I am now starting to regret my decision to go. I have been to all the Classic events and it has started to get a little dull as you say watching the same old same old. They also balls'ed up the night viewing for the faster grids by shifting the running order. I am not interested in staying up to 5am to watch some of them at night. Oh well, this will probably be my last.
The whole point of the race is that the first running of the 24 Heures was in 1923, won by a Chenard Walcker. So to commemorate the race we always have the same starting date of 1923. What I suggest is that when we leave Europe we move to get the clocks and days changed; if we have 50 hours in a day we can all be satisfied! But I agree with the sentiments expressed by Mark. The early years were fun, little security, so easy to move around and now it has become a box to tick on a lifetime CV. I see loads of people around who are coming for a stag weekend/company sponsorship etc. and couldn't tell an AC from and Austin. I shall not be applying for press passes next time I feel.
lighten up ... been going since 2004 ( missed the 1st one
) .. CLM is what it is , a great classic event with an atmosphere not matched else where. Don't think anyone is kidding themselves about the racing .. if you want historic endurance racing then spa six hours in sept is better .
But , as an overall package of 6 days ( for me ) of travelling down through france with mates in their cars , stopping at hotels enroute with a few days camping at the circuit and watching some of the worlds best race cars at midnight coming through indi to arnage .. I think its unmatched. Love it .

Off topic I know, but I have to agree.

Been going since 2008, without missing any.
You will never please everyone.
Always a group of us, many of the guys I only see every 2 years for this trip.We always have a great weekend.
My son has joined me the last 2 times and will do again this year. That just adds to the pleasure for me.
Did the parade lap in 2014, which was a thrill.
Just hope the weather is kind to us, everything else is down to us to make sure we enjoy it.
