Breakdown cover
Discussion
I'm an AA UK member, however they want £66 for single trip comprehensive cover for my 996 which seems steep. RAC is £43.83 comprehensive or £54 full.
Anyone got any other/better suggestions for full cover/unlimited repatriation costs?
Given its a 13 year old 911, if something significant goes wrong I'd much prefer cover that lets me get it back to my trusted UK mechanic than have some random french workshop make any potential problem worse.
TIA

It's worth noting that the RAC will negotiate over the phone on price. I got them down from £54 to £42 for the full cover. That was on a 2008 car though.Anyone got any other/better suggestions for full cover/unlimited repatriation costs?

The repatriation is usually to the port, once on british soil your usual british cover takes over.
I could be wrong, but the way the lady from the RAC explained to me was that they took me to my home address and if the total cost was greater than £500 for repatriation, which it would be to the north, then it was void the claim. I subsequently negotiated a deal for the full cover for piece of mind.I have RAC cover through my bank but European cover is for cars up to 11 years old. My Cerbera is a 2004 so too old.
I called RAC and following a 10 minute conversation, during which I told them I was an RAC customer through my bank, I was offered a 15% discount on their Comprehensive Plus cover - £44 for the Le Mans weekend. Includes repatriation, car hire, missed connection cover etc.

I spent some time looking at this today.
My current cover is with AXA and includes Europe. The renewal came through at £150 for the year. I called them because it occurred to me the other day that I need to ensure they will also recover the Caravan. Found they . I know that the Camping and Caravan Club offer breakdown through the RAC that includes the caravan. European cover was £220.
Remembered that I am a CSMA member so contacted LV. UK and cover, and caravans up to 8m included, £76 for the year! Car is 55 reg.

I've been with ADAC for a few years since it is very difficult to get reasonable european cover on older vehicles. Only ever had to call them out once in the UK - they subcontract the AA over here and it took over 7 hours for them to get to me and relay my car on two transporters to my destination (2 hours drive away) another 5 hours later. And I had to pay a surcharge because the cost of the AA relay charge exceeded the €200 limit on the ADAC policy.
This year I have taken out annual classic breakdown cover with Footman James - UK and european cover for cars over 20 years old for £65! I called them up for a chat and got off the phone feeling happy that the european cover would do what I needed it to do and get me and my car home if the worst should happen. Doesn't help the OP since his car isn't 20 years old but it may help others struggling for (reasonably priced) cover for their older or classic vehicles.

Business must be good at the AA - just called for a haggle as others have reported success with but they aren't interested. Long list of benefits read out where they proport to offer better coverage - none of which are really important to me. RAC purchased and -1 for AA come renewal next year.I paid £80 for a single trip cover from the AA.
I BROKE DOWN
The AA were pretty fantastic at getting us back (They lost my car for a month mind). but the guys on site did a valiant job to get me going, sending 3 vans but alas it was not to be. but when my car was found I was taken straight to the garage of my choice. 10 minutes later we were back in business.

I had a good quote of these guys

They also cover cars over 15 years old as a lot of places won't cover mine now!
