Where is the bridge seen at the start of the film??

While we're on this subject...

What about the initial bridge sequence (the fade up from black), and the tree lined road?
There has been talk of the tree lined road being just south of Mulsanne, but it's not there... there is a bridge (or 'hump') in the read at the far end, and the trees are very different too.

Anyone got any ideas for possible locations?

could be. Road layouts are changed and smoothed over the years (not least the Mulsanne straight itself) so its hard to know these days

The difference in the road and trees really suggest to me it is not the same location.
The trees south of Mulsanne are very different.

Anyway, would be interested to hear any alternative suggestions for these two locations?

As a sad individual with no real life I'm spending some free time playing with Google maps...

The first scene should be easy to verify as the road has a very particular set of curves.

D323 (Voie de la Liberte) just north of La Flèche has a very similar look to it - albeit more spoiled by construction etc., these days.

I see what you mean, and the general location would make sense, as I seem to remember the crew, etc., stayed in that area...
Not sure that is the exact location, but it does look like it's worth poking around the area more...
