Afternoon Chaps. Will be heading down from Newhaven to Dieppe on the 09:00am Thursday morning in the chim, so if anyone else is on the ferry give us a wave!

The reason for posting however is that previously we have done le havre to le mans so looking for a good route down from dieppe. Any suggestions?

Depends weather you want a direct route or a scenic one? Also what time you are likely to arrive in France?

We will be docking at 1400 in france. Will already have mates at LM so directish route would be ideal.

You can go down to Rouen and join the Autoroute straight down to LM or to side step Rouen as it can get busy go via 'Pont du Brontomme' and then join the Autoroute. Or you can avoid the Autoroute and follow the old normal road if you are not in a rush. We are on houx (Griff,3000S).

Dieppe down is one of the easier routes. As said above to Rouen, and then peage to Le Mans. Shouldn't take you very long at all.

Best bit about the return journy is the brassies in Dieppe itself. Always good to have some decent food before getting on the ferry (and avoiding theirs).

Head for the Pont de Brotonne and make your way from there. So Dieppe - Yerville - Yvetote - Pont de Brotonne - Bourneville - Brionne - Bernay - Sees - Alencon - Le Mans

Much nicer roads, away from the main roads and good fun. I would hate to advise any more as I haven't done this route for a few years, but just after the bridge, you can turn right and squiggle around a bit and then there is a great drive through the forests which is lovely. The Chim will sound great through the tall trees :-)

We did exactly this route 2 weeks ago. Off the ferry we just set the Jag-Nav to avoid tolls and it took us a lovely ride down through Rouen (no traffic at that time of morning) and onwards down the old 438.

Lovely ride down, and much more interesting than sitting on an autoroute at 80mph

Lovely thanks gents that sounds great. Will give that route a blast. Would be nice not to be just sat on the autoroute for a couple of hours.

We are doing the same in a Mustang but are stopping in Dieppe for the England vs Wales match and then heading for Le Mans at 5pm approx.....
