No one wants that lot, why can't they go to America for a change?

Just back also (1am now having arrived at Calais for 2pm!).

Didn't see any of this either. Genuinely think the power outage was to blame. Most people seemed very polite and in fact our group chatted to many others to pass the time.

Hope everyone got back safely.

Roll on 2017.

We went via Dunkirk.... no problems there.... we were early as as they were busy, we couldn't get squeezed on an earlier ferry but got on our booked option..... Ship was rammed full but managed to get food and shopping no probs and plenty of fellow LM visitors on there too

I nearly missed my scheduled ferry back from The WEC Nurburgring last year because of the road leading to the port of Calais gridlocked due to immigrants, so decided to book a very early ferry this year 06:45 place was very quiet hardly anyone on the ferry.and not a immigrant in site..

That would have been around 3-4pm yesterday, right around the time we were supposed to be boarding our ferry.

Instead, we were treated to a huge traffic jam, hundred of young men from Sangatte running around in traffic, throwing bricks and branches at the trucks to try and stop them (to board). Then, the feckless French riot police appeared and chucked a bit of tear gas around the place and swung a few batons.

A bit sketchy but all good fun, and a near-daily occurrence according to the chap at UK passport control.

We got there at about 3pm and sat in about 40 mins of traffic leading to the port. Drove through some dicey clashes between the police and immigrant who had broken through a fence and were throwing objects. Police were deploying tear gas on mass. Saw two immigrants opening the back of a lorry, and running off after apparently seeing it was empty and there would be nowhere to hide.

Further along the road, the views and sounds from the slum as we drove past were harrowing. Lots of tear gas canisters being fired and raining from the sky. Lines of immigrants opposing lines of riot police. Shouting, screaming and cries of desperation. It was a war zone. If anything, I think the media has been downplaying the situation there.

We were incredibly lucky with our crossing as we got on the 17:15, despite being booked on a crossing around 8pm. The whole scene of Calais left a bad taste for the rest of the journey.

love the headline

Immigrants shouting "fk the uk!"

I presume that would be the UK they want to come and reside in? Also they mention the Le Mans 42 hr rally event.... Now there is an idea!

It says too that the migrants fear that if we leave, border control will be beefed up immediately. Its nice that they think we're that well organised but I suspect their worries will be unfounded!

If you expected anything else, then you only have yourself to blame for your disappointment.

Even worse than that, a French minister claimed that France may stop border control at Calais if the UK leaves the EU, effectively allowing the migrants to sneak over freely!
