Best roads to Le Mans

I'm sure I've seen a thread on here about it before but I can't find it anymore.

I'm coming down from Zeebrugge on the Friday of LM Classic, heading back up on the Monday for an overnight on some Belgian beach (keep the missus happy). Would prefer to get off the toll roads as soon as possible and enjoy some decent tarmac through some nice parts of France. Any recommendations please? I'm looking at the map at the moment and trying to work it out from there too.
