LMC18 - Parade Laps - Helmets?
Discussion
Hi all,
I went to the 2016 LMC and did the parade lap and loved it. Went ahead and booked my car plus 2 friends car's for the 2018 parade laps only to be told:
'Oh and by the way, all drivers and passengers will require a crash helmet.'
This has come from 1st Tickets who are doing club bookings for PH.
Must be new for this year. Anyone know anything about it? Is it real; open/closed face, etc. It came as a shock to me as I don't own a helmet and neither do the other 2.
Thanks in advance

Please no misunderstanding. Cars of official "Parade" ( Youtube : Le Mans Classic 2016 - Parade BMW 1, 2, 3 ) and "VIP" ( Youtube : Le Mans, grand circuit Lotus Exige S2 - Youtube : Le mans classic 2016 Tour VIP club lotus france ) are without helmet.
Helmets were not mandatory at the Le Mans Classic in 2016 but they will be in 2018.This year was the first that the organisers insisted on helmets being worn for anyone going onto the circuit at any of their events.
At the Spa Classic in May I was asked to provide 10 cars to take a group of VIPs round the track for a couple of laps. EVERY VIP of the 20 we took was given a helmet.

I have a lid for myself but not passenger. Be interesting to see what they do, are they going to check you have a current lid FIA approved or do they not care?
No helmet = no passenger. They will not check the quality of the helmet because it's impossible with such a large numbers taking part (it is up to each person to assess the quality of their head I suppose!) but they will stop you if anyone in the car is not wearing one. Cheers,

Are there any rules or guidance on the type of helmet (open/closed) or particular certification it needs?
Cheers
Hi all. I'm leaving this a bit late but am interested in the parade laps on Saturday morning at Le Mans this weekend.

Can someone tell me what the deal is for £199. More than one lap? 15 mins? I can bring a crash helmet no problem.
I have an Exige S2 - would that be eligible?
Any info please share and I might join you!

Bump!
I can't figure out from the website whether I have to parked/camped with piston heads to take part. Or can I just buy a parade lap ticket and turn up?
Looking at the site, and speaking with someone at the 24h who is doing a lap via PH, is that you will have to be part of the PH club area and therefore be parked with them at the time of your lap (not sure what the limitations on coming and going from the club parking is) - whether 1st Tickets will just sell lap/parking tickets is another matter and only they can answer.I can't figure out from the website whether I have to parked/camped with piston heads to take part. Or can I just buy a parade lap ticket and turn up?

I think you can just buy a parade lap. I got mine from 1st Tickets but this late in the game you may need to call them. As part of it you get "display parking" which means they ask you to display your car in the display area inside the circuit somewhere after you do the lap. My lap is 8:30 on Saturday and they ask you to go to your display area before hand then they come and collect all the cars and you go back there afterwards. Not sure if you can just drive away after the lap.
I think it said all Lotus's are eligible but 1st Tickets have the list on there website and driver and passenger have to wear helmets.

Finally got my reserved return ticket on the Friday for 8.30am Saturday - manic and 3 laps - pleased I had helmet on My lap is 8:30 on Saturday and they ask you to go to your display area before hand then they come and collect all the cars and you go back there afterwards. What were you driving?
There was a US vehicle parade later on Saturday or Sunday (long weekend) but they got off track at start of Porsche curves (return through south entrance and tunnel under Bugatti) and only 1 lap I think which wasn't good.
