It's dawned on our group that after 10 years of going, we've never ventured further into LeMans, than the Carrefour in town over the weekend.
How is the town centre for a night out? Any bars/clubs that are worth a venture too on the Friday night?

Or just play it safe at Tetre Rouge bar as usual.

Worth a visit for sure, it may have mellowed a bit over the last few years but the Friday night is busy and good craic.

We always spend Friday evening in town. It's always busy so a few beers in some of the bars then a decent dinner somewhere.

It's passable. Usually quite busy and good luck sitting/eating between an hour before and an hour after the parade. Other than that it's ok but frankly we've always found there's a better atmosphere around the campsites that evening.

We almost always head in to the centre on Friday, officially "for the driver's parade" but once you've seen it once, you've seen it so the more honest reason is "for a nice lunch, an afternoon drinking beers, followed by another nice meal".

I always thought it was sort of mandatory to have a few beers in Mulligan's at some point during the weekend

There's loads of places off the main square where they do the parade. Make sure you head into the old town and side streets as that's where the best bars are.

I think it is biggrin

It will be busy this year on the Friday night due to Portugal and Spain playing each other in World Cup at 8pm. Should be a good game.

Looking forward to it smile

It's definitely worth booking up for a nice meal (especially if one of your group can speak French, or the restaurant speaks English).

Our group usually goes to a posh bistro on Friday further out than the squares, and one year the Toyota engineers were all in there smile Sadly I don't speak Japanese so had no idea what their tactics were.

I only realised in 2016 there's a river in the city!

Going to try and and wine tasting, and a bit of clubbing this year, but not at the same time.

Best idea is to get onto street view and have a mooch before you go starting at Place du Replublique where the drivers parade runs by.

You can catch the Tram over by the red building gates that come out of Garage Vert Campsite, or just up the hill from Tetre Rouge. Just check the end times as it costs both arms and legs for a taxi if you miss the last one, and someone in the group will want a pee halfway back leaving you to walk the rest of the way if you are on the last tram frown
