I haven't been to the Indianapolis / Arnage corners for a few years, and the last time was a bit of a faff in the car... I was planning on walking from Bleu Nord, via Arnage and along the Route De Mulsanne to get to the viewing areas..
Just wondering if this is the best route to get there, has anyone else a preferred method of getting there..

No problem in doing that, I have even walked to Mulsanne after visiting Arnage corner, you come across some interesting sights, parties set up in peoples gardens in what seems the middle of nowhere. I know is might sound daft but a Hi Vis vest or torch is worthwhile for your own safety, those roads are dark and some drivers may have been drinking. there are also lack of pavements in areas and drainage ditches, not to mention all the bicycles without any lights.

Have fun and just soak up the atmosphere thumbup

Bikes would be my choice. We took some for the first time last year and being able to get to arnage without too much effort was brilliant.

Yes, we did bikes also. We rented them at the tram station in town with the intent of loading them onto the tram to the end of the line. Stupid idea, the tram was absolutely packed on Friday morn. My wife, who doesn't bike much, was a trooper and rode all the way to our rental in Mulsanne.
They are a great way to get about, 10X as efficient as an auto. The rental bikes come with many lights, but a reflective vest is a good idea.

I,m also thinking of driving from blue nord in my vw campervan for the wed/thursday evening practice/qualifying, my question is, do you just turn up and park or is there a fee, or do you need a pre booked parking ticket? last year my friend walked to arnage and he suggests it,s more like just over an hours walk.

Need a parking ticket proper . You might be lucky and be able to park on the road, but that depends on the mood that the security thugs are in. I went to lock my bike to a fence there that had about 500 bicycles attached to it when one of them came up to me and said locking bikes here is not allowed...

^^^^^^Don't know about qualifying, I'm talking race proper.

It's a 3 mile trip from Bleu Nord... so depending on the amount of fizzy pop consumed I reckon it'll take from 45 - 60 mins..

When we went to the chinese restaurant in '95 we just parked up and watched the action sitting on the fence, but I think things have changed since then..

I don’t remember needing a parking ticket when I drove to Arnage last year for sunrise. I parked in a field opposite the Arnage entrance that had been designated for parking.

Been a few years since I've been out there but from memory you officially need a Mulsanne/Arnage parking pass - though they don't tend to enforce it too much in the middle of the night when the car park's almost empty, more around the start/finish when it gets busy.

Whats the best route walking by foot out to Mulsanne straight (and is it worth it?).

Same question but for Indianapolis. Last year took 3 hours at around 10pm. Less enthusiastic members of our group were less than impressed!

How long does it take and are their any routes closed off?

Thanks in advance!
