discovered by accident tonight....
7 or so 'bacs' around the Rouen area and apparently are free....not as quick as a bridge but all part of the experience of a road trip

Hi, try Jumieges (?) it’s got a lot going for it ruined abbey etc a very pleasant spot, some of the others are more in the industrial areas. It’s a good place to break the journey.
We’re off down 21/3 then back for Easter and back out end April. We always seem to be in a rush and would like to spend more time around Rouen

Think we used that one a few years ago, little auberge right by the crossing if I recall?

Do seem to recall there was a small cost though? A nice alternative route and off the beaten track for a little while.....

me too one day.....down to La Chapelle on Mon 17th Jun, opposite direction to the hordes, for a week then up to Ypres for 2nd week so may not have time this journey. bit of a piss poor main holiday this year!!
was looking at Duclair originally but Jumieges may be a possibility, use to stay overnight with caravan nearby at Mailleraye
