Is Arnage worth a visit on the Friday?

Cracking atmosphere and hardly any hassle?thinking of taking the old volvo through for a laugh in the afternoon and possibly return later on for food, beer and wine after we've dropped the tank off.

What are people's experiences, can't wait, let's hope for more good weather!

Mentioned it before, for me Arnage is the best place to be on Friday Afternoon (I prefer it to the drivers parade). There are a few bars by the mini roundabout that get very busy.
Great atmosphere there, and plenty of interesting cars to see/going through.

Not sure why people still refer to it as Mad Friday.
I haven’t seen any shenanigans at Arnage since 2010 - apart from the odd little chap on his bicycle.
Always good to catch up with people there that we have met over the years as well.

Any thoughts on the best route to Arnage from Tertre Rouge on foot (i.e. so we can have a few)? Is it simply down to the pits, across the circuit and continue...? Guessing it's about an hours leisurely walk? We typically go into town on the Friday but a change of scenery would be good. Only ever driven to Arnage on a Thursday for a mooch.

Yeah, down the pits, take the underpass under the Bugatti circuit and carry on to the roundabout outside Beausejour, cross under the long circuit below the Porsche Curves, go straight on at the roundabout past the parking field where the Pistonheads Friday Service used to be held. Continue along that road (there's an off road path behind the hedge a little further on) over the level crossing by the station and thats Arnage town. There are a few more eateries on the main drag as well as the ones at the roundabout.

Guessing that the photo is a few years old.

There has been a bigger police presence at Arnage for a few years, particularly around the roundabout where a lot of the burnouts took place.

We usually get to Arnage around 2/2.30pm. There’s a lot of nice stuff going through and it can get lively at any time (albeit evening is when there tends to be more alcohol based egging on)

We’ve never had anything but a great time there. A great mix of locals and (mainly) British -just a really good atmosphere, and perhaps a slightly more mature crowd compared to places around the sites and Le Mans centre.

Walking down Le Heronnierre is preferred it’s closed to traffic whereas the main routes are very busy and generally you are walking on the verge in the dark.

Route de la Heronniere is only closed to traffic when there's cars circulating, if memory serves. So will be open Friday night.

It's certainly calmed over the last decade. There's usually some fun on Friday outside Bleu Nord/Sud, but it's a lot more restrained. I'm not too upset as I never thought much to people having their expensive interiors waterbombed and the uneasiness that came with the bigger and angrier crowds, it's now just nice cars giving it a blip and the occasional pull.
