It seems Le Mans City Council (or the equivalent) want to stop them staying in the City. They in turn are threatening to cause blockades leading up to the Moto 24 and the real 24:

Striking and blockades is not new news and are part of the yearly Le Mans travel challenge. Frenchy loves to strike, and may go so far as throwing some old tyres across the main roads. I have been going since 1994 and witnessed a few holds up. Most of which have been down to farmers driving slowly or blocking. Never seen petrol shortages which is the usual scaremongering tactic.

I saw a Facebook post via a friend living near Le Mans. This is connected to fairground workers also. I couldn’t quite understand the context of the fairground link, assumed they were supporting all the yellow vest stuff. There was a call to the streets at 0800 in Le Mans Centre yesterday.

Traditionally they have set up the fair in the centre of town but the mayor has banned them. It’s generally felt that the fair has got too big and times have changed security being one issue and thechanged layout of the centre with the tram lines and stuff.
Most towns are moving them to the outskirts where there’s more space.
