As title I was stationary on a platform (at Calais) waiting to board train when a (french registered) coach went passed and clipped my car. A Eurotunnel train guard was a witness and we exchanged details etc, once on board the train.

I have emailed the coach company to see if they are willing to pay for damage without going through insurance but have had no reply.

How can I find the coach companies insurance details so I can contact them. I really don't want to contact my insurance company as it is not my fault but just want them to repair my car as it is only cosmetic damage.

Thanks for any help.

This is exactly what you pay insurance for. Make them do what you pay for.

I would write to them again demanded the value of the damage with an invoice from yourself or the garage for immediate payment. If it is a uk comonay it’s then quite easy to go through small claims if you want to do this privately.

However, if it is a small amount be aware of a ‘not at fault’ claim as your insurance premium may large more than the cost of the repair

Good luck either way

Or, you write to them, they report it to their insurance, your insurance find out and ask why you didn't report the accident within 24 hours as you are obliged to do, your insurance gets cancelled.

As it was a French coach did you complete the accident form signed by both drivers and keep a copy. My understanding as driver of French reg cars that the form must be completed to submit a claim against a third party

This is / was the correct advice, as my insurance has increased by £1.5K and thats before they have even paid out any money!

Insurance a furiousfuriousfuriousfurious ripoff!

I'm now going to be paying for this for the next 3 to 5 years in higher premiums even though it wasn't my fault!

Anything less than £1000 repair is worth just paying yourself if the other party will not.

Of course, you are breaking the rules if you say "no accidents" when you take out insurance later. But...them's your choices.
