Any recommendations for a hotel near Rouen please. Have searched back but most suggestions quite a few years old, anything more recent appreciated.

Thursday night on the way down - we're on Eurotunnel 7pm, looking to get near Rouen ~10pm, for a nice Friday morning run to the circuit / GBW.

Preferably somewhere that still might have a dinner option at 10pm.

cheers

Hi, are you quoting local times?
7pm tunnel is arriving 8:35 Calais
Rouen is around 2 hours
Doubtful that you will find hotel restaurant that’s open at 10:30 ish.
You may want to look to eat earlier

Look to eat en route to Rouen, Montreuil sur Mer has a lot of decent options (20-30mins from Tunnel)
Then look for somewhere in Rouen that's going to be OK to book in too at 11pm or so.
Ibis or Mercure I would have thought is best.

Or just stay a lot nearer to the tunnel and travel a bit further on Friday morning

I visit Rouen quite often and try to stay Here whenever possible.
Quite nice hotel right next to the centre with many bars and restaurants in easy walking distance.
NB!! Make sure you ask them for an idiots guide for how to find the entrance by car!!

Try any of the little towns on the side of the Seine. This place is nice.

Some restaurants advertise closing at 10:30 so if you have a plan and no delays it’s doable.

We've stayed there a couple of times. Nice car lift.

As they know my car is quite large (Merc 'R' class) they let me park it at ground level! smile

Right - I'm officially an expert on late might food !!! :-)

This year we reached Rouen about 10:30pm on a Friday night en route to the Moto24.. The options were absolutely woeful. However we stumbled on a gem on the river - the nicest array of bread, ham and cheese. I think we were still ordering food at midnight.

The name is (and I've just spent a lot of time looking this up, but then I need it for next year so time well spent) La Taverne De Thor

This link should give you some nice pics:

All they do is ham and cheese, but trust me it is first class. The wine is great too, staff couldn't have been friendlier.

We're not going that way for the car race, but looking forward to repeating it next year for the bike race

I forgot to say....the hotel close (walking distance) to the fine bar mentioned above is Ibis Rouen Champ De Mars.. even has secure indoor parking I believe, though I just parked on the street

I've used that Hotel several times post-race for a shower and comfortable bed. I recommend it, the parking is secure under-ground and its a short walk into the town centre.
