Due to my son having his last GCSE on the Friday morning we won't be taking our usual leisurely drive down on Thursday.
The plan is therefore to get a 1:30pm is Eurotunnel out and head down the autoroutes with cruise set to 130kph.
I know the Yvetot route is 10 km or so further than going through Rouen ( we have driven it before but it was years ago ) is it going to be quicker at about 3pm on a Friday afternoon?
Thoughts?
Cheers

If that is the road at the SuperU roundabout I do, much better than the endless interminable run round the ring road inside the city
I follow the motorway past the city exit towards Tours and Paris and come off on the road to Tertre Rouge and stay on it til I get to Arnage if I need to do shopping before arriving
Can you tell I navigate by fear in France

Not sure if its quicker, but we stopped there for lunch last year and beat crawling through Rouen hands down.
Edit: For the Porsche curves, you can take the A11 peage towards Nantes and then come off at Jct 9. That puts you directly onto the road that snakes round the back of the airport and onto Terte Rouge. Easy enough to come off to get to the Super U at Arnage and no messing about going through Le Mans.

That was my fear, thanks.
Also, for a change this year we are camping at the Porsche curves, I thought we'd head down to arnage on the d147s. Do you think that's wise?
Cheers
Assuming that from Yvetot you are still picking up the A28 I would, on arriving at Le Mans, take the A11 towards Angers and come off at the second exit which will bring you into Arnage from the west and not the east. Far less traffic from that direction usually, although Fridays seem calmer these days with many arriving Wednesday and Thursday. Then you pick up the D147S to Arnage and turn left at the fountain in Arnage centre and Bob's your uncle you arrive at the Porche curves. We use Waze, for the last few years it’s done a fabulous job of getting us round traffic where possible the whole way. We flew down last year and straight into Bleu Nord with literally no traffic at all.
Great to have advice from locals like Lowdrag but I also like having ‘the eye in the sky’ with Waze too.

Yes we use waze as well, it can come unstuck though and all those traffic lights in Rouen …..Great to have advice from locals like Lowdrag but I also like having ‘the eye in the sky’ with Waze too.

Not really, since you are leaving the A28 at La Chapelle St Aubin and hitting all the town and inner ring road traffic. I would rather take the A11 towards Angers two exits and leave there fo Arnage. Longer, but will probably save you time. Try looking for Etival les Le Mans and you'll get my drift. Sorry, not very good with maps but it is the A11.1 and then the D326.lowdrag said:

I followed this advice a couple of years ago and it worked really really well.lowdrag said:

Brilliant, makes perfect sense, so like this.. Regardless of time (+13 minutes when we timed it at a few years ago) it's a much nicer route anyway and crossing the Seine at the Pont de Brotonne is stunning
