Wednesday 12th.. School Visit
Discussion
Would anyone be free on the Wednesday morning to come along to an event at a school in Le Mans?
Info below.
Please let me know if you could make it, don't just turn up please, I have to let the school know who is coming.
Its a great event to show the kid a bit more about why we love Le Mans, the race and cars.
thanks
Chris

"'Hi Everyone
I'm a teacher near le mans in a secondary school for kids with learning and social difficulties.
Most don't know much about 24h because they never ever entered the track.
As we did last year we would like our pupils to meet you fans to understand why LM24 is so important for you.
We organise a meeting on Wednesday 12th from 10 to 12.
What we'll do:
- French breakfast to welcome you
- the inauguration of the 24h statue replica made by our pupils.
- a moment to exchange together
-and we would like to exibhit à few cars among them those types on picture (a few prestige car and stickered ones too)
We need 5 of these categories for our event so who's in to show what's the Le Mans spirit to our pupils ?'

I actually would if I could, but travel on the Thursday.
I try to make an effort to mix with locals in the village I stay, whether that’s socially in the bar or letting the kids sit in the car when their parents are bringing them around looking at the sports cars. It always seems to be appreciated and nice to interact rather than being ‘them and us’. I think it’s the polite thing to do rather than simply take over for the weekend and make no effort.

Friday would be better as there's no racing. I think you would get lots of people interested if you could change the day. A really great idea.
If they want any cars on Friday say 130pm we will turn up with our 3, all stickered up (supercar, hot hatch and an estate) 2 teenagers, 8 adults, 7 of our party are first timers.I would have done this but like others, will not be there until the Thursday afternoon.
It would be worth mentioning to the school that if they do this next year, to aim for Thursday or Friday. Also, have they approached the ACO to see if they can grant access to the children on one of the practice sessions? One thing talking to sweaty, half pissed British race fans and another to see the cars in action!
I think I speak for most when I say that is easy to forget that Le Mans isn't just a race track but a neighbourhood and community and one that I've always found welcomes us with open arms. It would be nice to give a little back beyond buying sausages and croissants from local shops.
