Sunday night bolthole - what's Honfleur like?
Discussion
Its a beautiful little port, very popular with tourists for obvious reasons. Lots of good restaurants + bars. Plenty of nice places to stay too. Recommend the Hotel Cheval Blanc if you can get in - Right on the waterfront though a decent public car park is yards away.
Le Bistro Du Port is very good but there's lots of choice and unlike most of France most restaurants are likely to be open on a Sunday night

I stop over in the centre of Evreux Sunday night these days. ibis Budget is cheap but feels like 5* after an ACO campsite, has a reasonably secure car park, and there's wonderfully miss-named London Pub bistro just around the corner that's open and serving food well past 9pm.
Evreux is perfectly nice but not a patch on Honfleur IMHOEdited by Dblue on Wednesday 29th May 10:21
Very pretty harbour
Every single (without exception) restaurant around the harbour knows they have a prime spot and serve over-priced average quality food. It used to be a very regular stop for lunch on the way from the tunnel to family in Bayeux but nowadays we give it a wide berth.
Go once, it is pretty - If eating, use a restaurant away from the harbour - food will be better price and quality (with the exception of SaQuaNa which is 2 M-star Japanese). L'Homme de Bois is my favourite (if you like seafood).
Go a bit further to Etretat or Fecamp, the Benedictine distillery in Fecamp is interesting (I am biased as it is my favourite tipple), there are a few well priced restaurants in both.

Another vote for Honfleur, stayed in Ibis Styles 3 times, good value, good location opposite large car-park and near harbour. I've always found the restaurants around the harbour to be reasonably priced - there is plenty of competition after all. Never had a bad meal either but I've rarely had a bad meal anywhere in France.

Dont diagree about the restaurants actually around the inner basin though I have found the Bistro Du Port very good IME. Nothing like the best in town though of course if, a) they're open (Sunday night) and b) you want push the boat out.
