Looking forward once again to heading to LM2019, but noticed this year that the build up is somewhat a bit down on previous years. The usual threads that start around April time such as "Who's on what crossing", "Stickered up for Le Mans" and "On the road to Le Mans" whilst up and running this year haven't been as popular. This time on previous years the threads were awash with posts and pictures. The demise of Beermountains forum is another area that, I think, has diluted the build up. Lastly Im wondering if the Brexit debacle has played its part in lessening the LM experience?
Maybe I've got it all wrong and the threads will explode with numerous posts and picture's in the few remaining days till we invade that hallowed ground.
I must stress this isn't a dig at the authors of the posts as I for one are very glad that they put the threads/posts up, but to me its part of my build up to the event.
Anyone felt the same????

Yep, it’s definitely muted though with 2 weekends left, the number of posts should increase dramatically with stickerage & last minute panics /remembering of previous “antics”. I think we’ll only see when we all turn up as to how busy it’ll be though it’ll still be LM24 with the thrills on track through the various classes.
OP, I know what you're getting at. It does seem a bit more muted this year which is a real shame. Ive been on here quite regularly looking for the sticking up posts and pics etc and there are very few.
We have 8 this year to Team Langoustine site and sticking up next weekend (will post pics, of course). Can't wait!!

From a group of about a dozen over four or five cars in the mid 2000s we are down to just to me and my mate this year. We have a six berth twin axle caravan to ourselves instead of four of us.
So we decided to upgrade to the paddock/pit walk this year and make the most of it. We've done pretty much everything else but seem to have consistently missed out on the support races.
I found a Flying Lizards sticker from 2007 whilst cleaning out the office, so that's going on the back of the caravan.
It's definitely more muted this year, perhaps because the chavvy stag parties are on Facebook, etc. Since I don't frequent Facebook I'm missing all that. Plus in the past, the chavvy 'I pissed in the back of a Lambo' and 'I got done at 165 in my Focus...' tend to rightly get roasted on here, they probably stay away.
What happened to Beermountain?

I think this year it certainly seems more downbeat, and i think it's a combination of lots of little things. Beermountain died a death because of a massive sense of humour failure by a mod which caused no end of antagonism, which in turn made the thin skinned chief pick up his ball and take it home!
Brexit has played a part, with people reluctant to go full on with stickers for the perceived view of us by the French? You can guarantee the rozzers will be as vigilant for people doing stupid things, maybe more so.
I will admit to having doubts about going, even now but that is more to do with me than the event itself.
I will be running down on my own on Monday from Calais so if you see a red Fiesta ST subtly stickered up give us a wave. For the first time I'm taking the old road down from Rouen so starting to look forward it more

From my point of view, the only thing dampening my enthusiasm is the entry list. The LMP1-H issue is well documented but I feel the entry list has stagnated a little, with few new entries to get behind, and a few who will be missing.
As much as I admire Toyota for their loyalty, part of me feels that the overall result is a foregone conclusion and is unlikely to be as compelling as years gone by. I’ve been to enough Le Mans though to know that anything can happen and what looks like a certainty, often isn’t.

We had our last Le Mans meeting in the local last night, the enthusiasm hasn’t wavered a bit, everyone really looking forward to it and bringing one newbie along.
The Lmp 1 is a bit of a farce but we like the gts so happy days.
I missed the stickers being delivered as I was at the butchers ordering the Le Mans meat, getting close now.
6 of us leaving oxford on the Wednesday before, all in the camper.
Can’t f
king wait.

king wait.I think my postman is almost as excited as me (& he’s not coming to LM!)...every day it’s something else being delivered at the minute as I’m taking by BIL & I’m therefore “equipping” him with certain things to make watching the race etc. all the better. My postie’s also watching when he visits me cleaning & stickering cars & things. SWMBO doesn’t flinch anymore though knows I’ll be hiding in the garage for a few evenings in the next week phaffing about

It's certainly lost it's chav image (thank goodness) where everyone drove like idiots on Friday, supersoakers filled with God knows what and t
ts on minimotos everywhere. No more paddling pools, then there were the stag parties...
Now, it seems to be more enthusiasts, still get Dutch techno and fireworks, but it seems to have got more corporate almost. I'm still excited as I was the first time I went, but agree, there are no TVRs, Saleens, Spykers, THAT Lambo, etc. The cost to run a full season of WEC has got so expensive, most are running in Blancpain and Gt3/4. So yes, there isn't the variety of cars any more which is bound to have an effect.
We thought last year was quiet, Houx was never full. There were never gaps in years gone by.

Maybe there is more chatter on facebook or whatsapp as indeed forums are on the decline on every topic - though I also noticed the ticket sales seemed slower than previous years, free spaces on Houx staying on offer longer as were grandstand tickets near the start/finish.
But since am turning old, I don't mind so much. A bit less noise on the campsites isn't a bad thing necessarily. The cars will still be making plenty of noise so let's enjoy before they all turn electric.
Myself am super-excited and got a silly Brexit sticker scheme lined up so bring it on.
