For campers who leave on the Monday, Just a word on something we came across post race.
Admittedly the ACO apparently have no interest at all in maintaining any village services once the clock strikes 3pm on the Sunday, but there have been a few places open for an hour or so after the Podium calibrations. (Maybe local LM expert 'Lowdrag' on here can confirm this but as race is done, I assume ACO interest is finished)

On past a 24h event a few years ago , a bar in the village near the Tall steel sculpture (Maybe Bar Vin I think) opened until around 5pm or so which was a great place for the many overnight and 'Monday morning leaving camping customers' to meet up after the end of race celebrations and last minute shopping before heading back to the campsites.

However last year it was closed by the time we got back from the podium celebrations and was the same again this year. We tried the new bar area next door which we thought would be open , but they were already packing up the bar equipment.

We then went to the bar opposite on the side of the big screen which said they were still open .

However upon tasting what they were selling was as 1664 blonde it clearly was not that product displayed, (afraid it was not the best of taste at all that gave us all the clue!)

On return of the cup deposit , we discovered that it not what the customers had paid for but a ' zero alcohol ' replacement that they said they have to use from the minute the race finishes. But Since the ACO interest is then no more, it's left to each venue to operate as they choose , so that venue chose to offload some zero alcohol 'teawater' beer to thirsty customers !

They seemed to be surprised that we told them selling product that was not as advertised is wrong we of course got the usual 'French shrug' ,so next year just be aware ...

French law stops them serving alcohol at the track after 3pm on Sunday (the specific law is applicable for all sporting events). I usually get on a tram to Le Mans town for some beer and food. The tram runs late.

Ideal time for a wander into Arnage for a post-race debrief.

Both the ACO and Le Mans Municipality would much prefer it that everyone was gone by the end of Sunday. I sort of understand this.

The vast majority of the the Circuit footprint is normally public realm and private dwellings and the ACO's responsibilities for this land passes back to the Municipality at 5.00pm on the Sunday (IIRC) so I guess they would prefer the process of repatriation not be hindered by hoards of drunk blokes extending the jovialities.

The Tertre Rouge bar is always open for several hours after the race and is well attended.

Not sure about next year though. Much muttering about it being closed down - though I think I've heard that severals time before.

I think the Tertre Rouge Bar and Janine's have been closing pretty much every year since I started going (2003) and probably well before then

Yes they are both going to close every year but somehow they are always there the next year
