We were stopped by a 'Mr & Mrs' Le Plod on the A28 from Alecon to Le Mans for 153kph in a 130 zone. They came out of a rest stop in this little blue van, quite funny as it took ages for them to catch up with us travelling exactly at 130kph once I'd clocked the lights. :cop:

About 10 minutes of Franglais later the Homme slapped his wrist and said get out of here - whahooooo! :bounce:

The Dame informed it would have been an 90 Euro fine. :readit:

The main discussion was regarding closeness that 130 and 153kph represents on the inside of a mph speedometer that goes upto 200mph - the width of the needle is about 10kph! :scratchchin:

We omitted to tell them that just 5 minutes before we were at 160..........mph! :driving:

Thankfully didn't have to, spotted the plod car pulling out of a rest stop on the 138 after coming down a big hill (After Sees?) gave our lead car a quick flashy so he knew what was going on and proceeded to lead a convoy at precisely the speed limit for about 10 minutes, plod car got so hacked off he undertook the entire convoy on a roundabout with two wheels up on the verge!

Apologies to anyone we held up.

Yeah we got tugged on the 1st set of tolls down from calais,
Me in my v8 esprit racing my pal in his integrale.

We launched off the tolls like scene out of wacky races...........up to around 130mph & lane changing & mucking about but a little later down the local police tugged the lancia so we just rolled by in the lotus at about 45mph in the hope of not getting pulled!

The second cop ran accross the carrigeway to get us!!

We had pugged the road angel up and just kept saying pardone, pardone!!(limited french vocab!).......He gave up after ranting off at us & let us go!!
Just like you though we had just pushed 160mph shortly before they saw us!!
Bit of a wake up call but 20 mins after the tug we were at it again in true le mans style!

flooked our way out of it, passed a speed trap in a long q of mixed traffic, carried on only to be overtaken by a french plod motorbike who pointed at his finger at the 2 cars in front of me to pull over and let me go

no idea why he let me go, I was by far the most pullable (lary s2000 with big stripes and stickers) the other 2 were a crap frog car and a scooby .

You know something 'm1xmag' - I thought exactly that as we drove off and waved Le Rozzers goodbye.

My recolection of 'O' Level French goes something like "It's a school holiday, Xavier is off fishing with his mate, a fit bird and an ugly square lass", and thinking "is he going to have the fit one or ugly one?".

So is it fair to say, no-one else on the forum managed to talk themselves out of a fine?
