Apparently 5 of the voting countries switched their votes from Paris to London after senior members of their committees either had their vehicles confiscated or levied heavy fines after an exploratory trip to Le Mans. The separate incidents combined caused a lack of confidence in the French transport infrastructure amongst IOC member countries. "There were Gendarmes everywhere, dozens of them at every roundabout" said Zsxchzxxz Xyyzzssch from the Czech republic. "They fined me €750 for doing 18km/h in a 15 km/h limit. It's complete bollox.". Marcello D'angelo from Sicily had his Ferrari 360 towed away on a flatbed after being caught by radar gun doing 300 km/h on the N138. "I wouldn't mind but I'd just be overtaken by some British lunatic in a TVR Cerbera. I don't know what this character had under the bonnet but he blew me into the weeds, and I was the one who got banned from driving in France for 3 months! it's outrageous!!".

Jacques Chirac is said to be on the verge of resigning, and with a bit of luck the french old bill will go back to drinking red wine and sitting under olive trees all day.
