Any suggestions? We will be spending most of June in France = travelling. What with roaming restrictions and charges nowadays I think a local sim is the way togo. Anyone know good ones avaliable in France? One I can order in advance? Need just a month no commitment contract and 30-50 GB data.

France is nothing like the UK regarding mobile or internet.
AFIK you need a French bank account for a Payg as they have to be registered.
You can search for SFR, Bougies, Prixtel, Free but I don’t know if they will supply to a UK address
My UK number has no roaming charges comes out of any package that I have. Check uk carriers for inclusive roaming would be my suggestion

Smarty still include roaming within your allowance and 12gb data per month, but can add more data on for a cost. Sims are monthly payable

If you haven't changed your SIM / mobile plan for quite a while you should still have EU data roaming included. AFAIK mine still has data roaming included in the EU.

ETA : Mine does still have EU roaming included, as I haven't changed plan or stopped it and moved to a new provider.

I have a Lebara sim for personal use in my dual sim work phone. They use the Vodafone network, so coverage is good. Prices are OK too, especially with the offer for new customers.

Definitely check if roaming is ok on your current sim, my £10/month Talkmobile (Vodaphone) sim just got upgraded to 40GB/month and I've only spent about 3 weeks in the UK in the last 2 years.

I'm going to try to get a Free mobile sim
Seems they have kiosks where you can get the sim so hoping I can top it up with a card.

I just bought one from ID Mobile, but not been able to use it yet.

Claims free roaming - the main condition seems to be you need to use in the UK more than abroad over a 4 month period

Their EU roaming data depends on how much your monthly spend is

I've gone with unlimited - so not clear how that will work.

I'm in France at the moment & it just seemed too hard - I'm back in the UK next week & will pick up the new SIM which is sitting at nome waiting for me - then returning to France for 4 months. Hopefully by the time they complain about my fair usage, I'll be ready to stop smile

Three on a Paygo should still support roaming, bought the sim pre-loaded (with £10) from Amazon and worked as described.

I recently had one for when I travelled to the states and then to Poland a week or so after and it worked in both places

My Phone is dual sim so just needed to tell it which one was for roaming and didn't need much more intervention then that.

If you search for bougies, you'll find candles. Search for Bouygues instead.
