In the local paper was the details of the 100th anniversary show, and it looks impressive. Of the 91 (?) years the event has run there are examples of 85 cars that were the winners, and of those no less than 65 are the actual cars, including the 1923 Chenard & Walcker. Should be a worth a visit.

Apparently Mazda’s 787B is going to make an appearance during that presentation. That would be awesome

In theory it's awesome.

In practice it just pootled around at about 30mph last time Mazda rolled it out at La Sarthe 5 or so years back.

If you were at Goodwood FOS in 95 I think you'd appreciate why they take it easy these days https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvceCjqts8U

It did pootle IIRC in the hands of Patrick Dempsey (?) but Johnny Herbert gave it a bit more welly.....

Yes,having not seen (heard) it run in period I remember wondering what the fuss was about when Dempsey took it round on the Wednesday or Thursday, and then finding out exactly what the fuss was about when Johnny Erbert got going on the Saturday

If you are around on the Wednesday 7th it seems that there is an exhibition of 120 cars on the Place des Jacobins (below the cathedral) from 9am to 6pm. I only found out yesterday when asked if thy could borrow the XKSS. No idea at all what cars are going to be there though.

I was on the ferris wheel when it was going round, so got the full aural treatment of it on the whole circuit. Lovely, lovely thing.

2015 and that’s a 767b that’s privately owned.

They'll be a bit short of the 91 cars, as 5, yes as many as five have won Le Mans twice in the past.

There may be more, with recent Audis, Porsches and Toyotas, but it may be that they used a new chassis every year
