OK we don't get an LM Classic this year but a heads up for those who get their holiday bookings in early and need a bit of 24 hour classic magic.

I've just been e-mailed the list of events at Portimao circuit this year - this includes a 24 hour classic Bentley race on Oct 4 - 6th. I guess this is organised by the Benjafield Racing Club - they did a similar event in 2014 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Bentley's first win at Le Mans. OK not the diversity of machinery that you get at LM/Goodwood but Speed 6's etc racing through the night …it can't be bad.

Flights to Faro are cheap as chips, circuit is approx. 1 hour from the airport and a hire car will cost you about £100 for 4 days. From memory my entry to the Algarve Classic last year including paddock was €25. The weather in the Algarve early October is usually superb.

As an alternative land in Portugal on 17th October, take in the E.L.M.S. race and then enjoy the Algarve Classic Festival the following weekend.

Without wishing to rain on your parade, the Bentley racing was as dull as ditchwater at the Classic last year.

Have to agree. As lovely as they are to look at it doesn’t really do it for me in terms of racing- it’s all a bit slow and dare I say it ‘lifeless’. I’d imagine it’s far more fun driving but speaking for myself as a spectator it gets very ‘samey’ after a couple of laps.

Did the Spa 6hr last year which was like the LM Classic the first year it was on. You could access all areas and even wander round the pit garages. On the Sunday there were track runs too.

Saw this on the box last night, looked pretty spectacular:
https://www.maltaclassic.com/
Also quoted an interesting "fact", apparently Malta has more classics per capita than anywhere else in the world.

Have been to this a couple of times. It’s worth a visit.
